hey everyone so i brought my car from a private seller and i been hearing alot about recalls on the 2005 TL.. if i bring it to the dealer will they charge me to get those recalls fixed or do they do it at their own cost ?? Thank you have a great day

 

if you call your local acura dealership and give them your VIN number; they will tell you if any at all recalls to your vehicle.
then schedule a time to get the work done.

Recall: To request return (of a product) to the manufacturer, as for necessary repairs or adjustments.

 

If it is a recall it will be no charge. If it is a TSB it is only free while the vehicle is under warranty.

 

I've had success getting TSB's goodwilled outside of warranty. Of course, your (all's) experience (s) are different than my personal ones.

 

I also had success in getting TSB's goodwilled. It pays to have a good relationship with the dealer.

No, there were a couple of wide recalls, and a limited one for a very small number of '05s, IIRC.

The two recalls most likely to apply to your 2005 TL were 1) the power steering hose and O-ring, and 2) the windshield wiper motor (you want to have that done to avoid shorting out while it's raining). You can do a search for more info on the recalls; it's probably in the 3G Service Dept./Garage thread stickied on the first page of the 3G TL forum.

You can register your car @ the Acura Owner website and it will advise you of any open (not yet completed) recalls that apply to your specific TL.

Thanks Will that's some good information on the recalls and something I need to do since I've bought my TL.

 

I also just bought an 05 with Nav and my steering wheel is pretty hard to turn when moving at slow speeds. You think this has something to do with the recall?

 

Do you have power steering whine when the car is cold? Its most likely air in the system plus dirty/old power steering fluid... Easy fix.
