I'm always torn when I see these things...I love seeing that we have a popular car, but I hate knowing that one day they will be a dime a dozen like a POS GM or Ford (at least here).

Oh well, once I get my wheels, mine will look different (and better ) than any other in town, so I'll get over it. Congrats to Acura!

Interesting that such a small percentage of TL owners are members here, though. I guess most people just aren't into their cars.

I agree, chill_dog. I've seen too many TLs on the roads already . . . mostly driven by women. Once in a blue moon, I'll see a guy driving one.

I see several TLs a day here in Cleveland now. It's always nice to know we have a winner. Then again, I told everyone that over 18 months ago.

The worst is seeing old ladies driving TLs. It's a shame to know the car's potential won't even be tested during it's life time

Give the old folks a rest! Where do you think that all the pristine used cars that your poor freinds buy come from?

Definitely not as rare as I wish they would be. My last car was an 01 3.2CL Type S, which I am actually turning in tomorrow, and I hardly EVER saw any of them around. I'd see one a week if I was lucky. Ever since I got the TL, though, I see a few of them every day on my way to and from work. 2 days this week I've seen my exact color combo! It's good to know you're choosing a car that others also like, but having a car that was less well-known I think makes people enjoy it even more once they see it only because they've never seen them before. Even though all my friends have seen MANY 3g TLs on the road, they're still amazed when I show them all the features of the car So I guess it makes up for it not being as rare.

The sales record was for Acura as a whole. Here is what they say about the TL:

The TL performance luxury sedan was the top-selling model, with sales of 7,032 units, up 6.1 percent over last year and leading Acura to its fourth best total car sales month ever. Year-to-date TL sales reached 32,142 units. Demand for the all-new RL luxury performance sedan continued to grow with sales of 1,404, up 225.7 percent compared to 2004. Year-to-date RL sales of 6,867 surpassed last year's total by 191.8 percent. TSX sales of 3,367 units were up 1.7 percent compared to 2004.

The blurb doesn't agree with the earlier TL sales posted above. Also, other discussions have said that the RL is not selling as well as its competitors.

the key is to make yours unique so you're not just another TL owner

I see more men driving them than women. And most of these people I see are business types (read suits). I dress casual and kinda look out of place compared to the suits (men and women) in the TLs next to me at th streetlights.

But here's what I don't get: These same suits are talking on cell phones without the HFL. Most put the handsets up to their ear and some have the wired earphone/mike combo. Am I the only one actually using HFL in my area? Weird!

We're all just another TL owner. And there's nothing wrong with that.

Face it people, the TL is a middle-class car. We're not drivng Ferraris here.

A bit of customisation is always fun but if you think you'll get some special status because your TL is unique, think again.... you're just another TL owner.

yup... "just another TL owner"-

unless you get chrome spinners.. than you're a TL owner.

if you get an aluminum wing, then you're a TL owner.

if you paint the car pink, then you're a :ghey: TL owner (unless your're female, of course).

if you're jaydef00, then you're a TL owner.

most members on here are, apparently, TL owners...

and then we got the TL owners.

we probably have some :communist TL owners, too.

and of course, if you SC your TL, then you're a TL owner.

so you see, mods do differentiate your car from the rest... after all, people turn their fat necks to look at your car because its uniqueness stands out.. not to see "just another TL owner."

It's still just another TL.

Unless you find a way to cram a V8 under the hood and make it RWD, it's still just another TL.

Sure you may have a few extras that make it look unique and I've seen several TLs in here that are very well done. But in the end, it's still just another TL.

Some people here act like their TL is the best thing invented since slice bread. It's not. It's an excellent car and has lots of bang for the buck. It's also the best in class and Acura/Honda deserves respect for giving us a pretty damn fine car. But in the end, it's just another middle class passenger car.

Slapping on a few bolt-ons and such doesn't really make it exceptional because given the same amount of cash, I can go to the same suppliers and create a clone of your "unique" car in no time. And it still would be just another TL. Slapping on some special rims, debadging, wing, tinting the windows, lowering the suspension, adding an intake/exhaust/supercharger etc. is nothing "unique" because I can do it too. And that's how most people on here "create" their "uniqueness".

Now, if you had a one-off like the A-spec show car, then yeah... that's pretty unique simply because.... it *IS* unique; it's a one-off!

Or if you had a V8 powered RWD TL, then that too would be unique.

Other than TL, it's just another TL..... with a few extra accessories/options. Nothing special.

well... i was just joking, but whatever. obviously you and i (and other people) have different take on "uniqueness." sure, anyone can replicate another by throwing in money & time, but i think it's the whole dedication aspect that differentiates one from the latter.

v8 power rwd TL is actually as rare as a SC'd TL... i have yet to see one (3G).

mine, while stock except for the CT RSB & tints (installing the CAI today or tomorrow, yay!), is not just another TL... cuz it's MY FRIGGIN' TL! one and only, as far as i'm concerned. haha

yeah, i guess one downside of optionless TLs is having too many exact other TLs, but if you're into uniqueness, look into a Maserati Quattraporte... there's apparently over a million ways to custom order your 4door.
