Just got my 04 SSM TL back from the dealer, Performance Acura of Chapel Hill and I just don't understand why Acura likes to mess with their customers. The TL went in for a butprint seats, fix the driver memory that they messed up last time it was in, passanger door rattle, 3rd brake light rattle, sunroof rattle and the part behind the sunroof was like shaking in the wind when the sunroof was down. I sceduled the appointment a few weeks in advanced and went in and me and my mom showed the service guy all of the problems to make sure it would all be done right this time. Then a few hours before it was supposed to go in the dealer to get fixed they called and said they didn't have a loaner and I should bring it back in 2 days. Then my mom brought it back in and was given an RL loaner. It is amazing how much more solid the RL feels. I was greatful for the nice loaner and almost thought maybe the service center had it down and wouldn't mess up. I was wrong. Next day the manager called and said they only had one seat cover in because one was damaged and they needed to order another and they needed to order a new part for the door. Then a few days later they called backa and said they accidently orderd an MDX door and they got another bad seat cover. Then they finally got the parts in and put it all together. They were refusing to put 05 covers on so they put new 04 covers on, but they only out it on the drivers side and not only did they only do the bottom part and it doesn't match but it already had but prints when I picked it up! They also didn't fix the door rattle.
So in a nutshell it was at the dealer for about a week and they only fixed the sunroof and the seat memory that they messed up last time. I am thinking of going to leith next time for service.
Here are pics of the "new" seat cover:

Why did you accept the car? I would not have given them the loaner keys back until you were completely satisfied. Keep the loaner keys in your pocket when you take your car out for a test run to ensure everything is fixed.
You cannot blame them for getting bad seat covers, but you can obviously be upset about an incorrect order. Still, sounds like they weren't trying to screw you over, it just didn't get done right.
Next time, tell them "This isn't right, call me when it is" and take your RL loaner and leave...

and if I decided to get rid of the TL b/c of problems the last thing I would do is get another TL.Edit: sorted though the reciepts, been in the shop twice for the sub/ rear deck rattle, 3 times for the seat memory, twice for the sunroof and 3 time for the door rattle.

What?!

However, if the dealer places an order for an MDX door and expects it to fit on a TL, then yea that's a problem.
See the difference?

Update: I took the TL out for the first test drive after getting it fixed and all I can say is wow!
I think there are more rattles than when it went into the dealer. I swear I heard at least 6 rattles, still the sunroof, passanger door and 3rd brake light rattle and now I think I heard a center speaker rattle, a rattle in the center top part where the homelink stuff is and a driverside rattle right above the door. This really pisses me off and my mom is going to contact the dealer monday and try to get some more of this shit taken care of. I am very dissapointed and this is just getting rediculous(sp?). This rattles more than my 97 accord LX which has been in I think 5 accidents, 2 of them major, has a salvage title and is a $15K 8 year old car that has been thoughly abused with subs etc. And does anyone elses trunk creak when you open it? mine makes like a creaking sound. I am even developing a backseat buttprint

I think the first issue is that it's mommy's car, and the reason they dick her around is because she's TOO NICE. (As the son said)
The truth is she shouldnt have to be anything, but this is reality and in reality you have to stand up for yourself and that's missing here.

I have a loaner RL right now. I went to pick up my 02 TL (a month in the shop total in the past 3, been to the dealership 9 times for same problems in 3 months, so much an Acura rep came to talk to me and the dealer), anyway.. It was parked out front, the sales dept. was open but service was closed. The Acura rep demanded they replace Bose speakers under warranty, so they did that. They also fixed the power window regulator... however:
The car was also in because the new dash (the old was warped) they installed vibrated and "flopped" on start-up/shutdown of the engine and over rough pavement. They said they "adjusted" my dash. So I got in my TL ready to leave, I'd already turned the RL's keys into the secretary when I noticed that the middle of my dash was sagging and noticeably not level with the rest, and I craned my neck up and you could see down in the car! It looked like someone had crammed a cloth of some sort between the base of the windshield and the dash, but it turns out I was seeing the windshield insulation. I was PISSED...
Then I noticed a very, very deep crease (looks like it might crack soon) in my driver's leather seat that wasn't there previously. It's right down the center and very noticeable.
Back I went into the dealer, fetched the RL's keys back from the secretary and wrote my service advisor a note saying I'd pick my car up when it's fixed correctly.
120 miles roundtrip for nothing.
NEVER EVER EVER EVER USE NALLEY ACURA IN ATLANTA, GEORGIA.
Can you go to another dealer nearby? It's all covered under warrantee so it wouldn't matter where you go. Lemon laws apply to a car when the same problem occurs multiple times and every time you bring it in there is still the same problem. I.e: fuel injector keeps malfunctions over and over. Don't let the dealers screw around with you.
yeah there cheap but they take a long time to replace (well for an Xterra). I had a 01 Xterra SE and the check engine light would keep comming on. Everytime I went in they said it was the fuel injector. They replaced it three times I think. They had to take the whole fuel tank off.
Well I can't go to another dealer because they don't want to get involved in what Nalley has already screwed up. And I bought the car used, and it has 39k miles, I'm sure lemon laws would not apply in this case.
I have no idea, the tech that was working on it even showed me the tank taken off. Nissan is not that bad. What I figured out was it was not the cars fuel injector that just went bad by itself. I remember my fuse blowing that killed my gauges, and replacing it two or three times. Afterwards my check engine light would come on and I'll bring it to the dealer and than they would say it was the fuel injector. I don't know what the fuse has to do with the fuel injector and the gauges unless it was all connected to the same power source???
Fuel injectors are controlled by being given power(at least digital fuel injection, not sure on mechanical), so If there was a short in the injector... I was curious as to how the fuel injector was the problem, since they took of the gas tank, which could, as far as I know, never be neccesary. Are you sure you arent refering to the fuel pump, that would make a lot more sense. Has its own circuit, wheris the injectors definatly dont each have a fuse.
i agree with you man....https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=116437
hope acura can have more distinction between Acura and Honda...

I had a nice little talk with ACS today about the seats and they are pretty damn set on not changing to the 05 cover. The guy said acura has not test the fit of 05 covers on 04's and I told him several dealers had replaced them and they seemed to be fine. Pretty much all he could tell me was I needed to take the car back to the dealer to have them address the seats again and if it isn't resolved by them, than I need to call them back to "take further actions" I had to ask him what further actions meant and he said they will address the issue and all that BS. and he asked what I wanted from them and I said I wanted seats that didn't have big but prints in them. He did seem like taking the car to an apolstry shop on Acura would maybe be an option in the future. I plan on getting my seats fixed, whatever it takes so Acura better watch out.

I am really pissed how Acura has kind of blown off the customers and dealers on this issue. Why the
won't they just put out a tsb to put 05 covers on 04's? I would think it would save them money rather than having to keep replacing these 04 covers! and it def. would make us customers happier. And i hate how they have charged the dealers who are doing the right thing and replacing 04 covers with 05 covers. I just don't understand

Tennisjon....after going thru the same problem you have with the seats, I can finally put this issue to rest and give you some hard facts. The '05 covers will definately fit on the '04 seat frame. The problem, and it's a BIG problem is that the cushion under the cover is different on the '05 seat. The '05 seats have the extra seam, and that seam has a plastic rod attached which is pulled down into the cushion and fastened down with rings creating the pillow or cushion effect with the seam. The '04 cushion does not have the channel nor the rings to pull down the rod. Also, the seat heater has a break between the seams, and the '05 seat heater has an extra break allowing the rod to pull down into the cushion. Needless to say, you're going to have to replace the cover, cushion, and seat heater to complete the swap to '05 style covers. I just had all this done to my car, but the warranty only covered the labor and leather, I had to pay for the cushion and seat heaters for the seats. The cushion is approx. $100 each, and the seat heater is approx. $90 each. You could go without the seat heater, or try to modify it yourself, but the cushion is absolutely necessary for the covers to fit properly and have the seam look right. Without the cushion, the new covers would still have the seam, but they won't pull down into the cushion and would just lay flat on the cushion creating the same problem you've got with the '04 seats. The seat heater would probably fail if you tried to use it on the new cushion because there is no break and the rod would most likely tear into the heater breaking the wires. If you're still willing to pay for the cushion and heater, I can absolutely tell you the '05 cover does fit and looks great on the '04 seats so don't let the dealer tell you otherwise. They just don't want to cover the cost of the cushion and heater under warranty.
My Acura dealer just called today asking for the old seat covers and heaters back because Acura Warranty division wants them returned for analysis or something. Since I did a good job disecting the '04 covers and cushion, I've got a pretty good idea of the makeup of the cushion and covers. If anyone is having problems with their seats, PM me and I'll give you what information I've got concerning the '04 vs. "05 seats.
