Acura RL linking traffic info with Navi
This sounds like a neat new capability. I wonder if it will make its way to the TL.

"I wonder if it will make it to the TL"
that made it on topic, sorry bub
I really would like to integrate this into my current 04 nav
sounds like you need "Acura Link" to somehow get it
we already have XM
Let's get it done people

I truly hope the hardware of our 04TL's Navi is ready to do so. If yes, in the future, the possible software/firmware upgrade would make our system display the traffic info, too.

Ditto - rets. I am hoping there is a data link between the XM radio and the nav system. It is likely that this would pass over the same data link that currently passes the song title/channel ID info to the navi.
I have long said that integrated real time traffic is the killer app for navigation systems. Acura better make 90% of the RLs with Navi next year. Everyone will want it.

I have a Volvo R with Navi and I just participated in a system test in preperation for integrating traffic information. Volvo's Navi has been doing this in Europe for years and On Call Plus (their OnStar) uses satellite vs. cellular signals so existing cars are already properly equipped. Traffic data should be available (by $ubscription) next quarter. Unless the TL Navi can receive (and process) satellite signals I doubt it will be backwardly compatible. Especially considering the RL has OnStar which I presume is a part of the system.

Why would On-Star have anything to do with it? The Acura RL wasn't announced with On-Star, was it? All you need is traffic data in digital form, and navi software that can show traffic, and route around it.
So, with a data link in the car between XM and the Navi system, and software in the navi to parse the traffic data and use it, you should be good-to-go.
Isn't on-star just a set of receptionists you can call to make dinner reservations for you??

On-star is just an uplink like a cell phone.
