Acura Navigation Survey
Im sure some of you have already done this, or at least gotten this email. But this seems like a good time for everyone to voice their opinions on the Acura Navigation updates, and the system as a whole.
Im pretty sure everyone on here would agree that the updates are a little pricey... so lets all say that in the survey and maybe, just maybe Acura will drop the price down to that $99 mark!
Here is the survey!

Done, thanks! I completely agree.
I mean, if Apple updates their software every year and charges $30 for it, why can't someone developing only maps do at least that well (if not $20)? I would probably update yearly then...

I clicked on it and it said "our records show you have not purchased a map update in the last three months." How the hell would it have any clue whether that's accurate when you don't log in before taking the survey and they haven't sent you an individual link that would confirm such things?

^^ I think it's just a standard blurb they put in there. Mine said the same. I'm going to move this to the regular 3G section for more exposure and participation. Thanks for the link!

It didn't ask you for any personal information, so you still have nothing to worry about.
Thank you for completing it everyone!

Definitely agree. Didn't even bother looking for a car with Nav because I'm plain not interested. Yeah the screen looks nice, but the graphics are dated. Even on a new car, the graphics can end up looking dated if someone keeps the car "only" 4-5 years. If they want a good Nav product, they need to go with a vendor that is SETTING trends, not following them.

For me the main reason not to buy the update isn't the cost per se. I gave them two reasons why I didn't see the need for the last update (see below). I do prefer to use the TL's navigation system as opposed to my wife's Garmin or the Google Maps app on my iPhone. It's a lot easier to see when I'm driving, it's less distracting than a windshield-mounted device (and does not leave that telltale ring as an invitation to thieves), and it's easier to operate (especially with the joystick when I want to pan around looking for alternate routes if I'm in traffic in an area with unverified roads). But I haven't bought the most recent update because the following two reasons make it not worth the cost at the present time:
(1) I haven't travelled much in the past two years and so have not had a great need for a navigation update when most of my driving was in my local area. On the two longer trips I did take I knew that there were no new roads I'd encounter other than a single new roundabout in one location. It's not worth spending $150 just because of one roundabout.
(2) I live in the DC area and there are a LOT of road expansion projects going on that will result in reconfigured or new interchanges and the like. To me it makes sense to wait until as much of that is done as possible before spending the money on a new disc.

Done. I actually have made threads about this in the past. I remember I bought the 2010 update. I think it was because I was tired of it telling me things like the closest walmart was 3000 miles away. The new update was somewhat better but still not great. Either way, the updates are definately overpriced.

Hi guys,
The link in the OP is specific to the person it was sent to. That is why it says "it looks like you haven't gotten an update recently - because jonboy hasn't gotten one recently. It thinks you are him.
BTW, that link leaks someone's email address (when you click on it and get to the survey page, look at the "page url") so it might be a good idea to remove it.
It's likely that they are tired of getting dozens of responses from the same person and they are simply throwing the old responses in the trash...

You are correct. I was wrong.
I believe this would be the correct link, since it still shows the survey without my email in the address bar.

So MODS please change it to this. FLAR, I know it still says our records indicate that you havent purchased an update recently, but do you think that now it is a general question? Because if you put http://www.acurasurveys.com/ in the address bar it prompts you for a survey code. Then if you enter 3FB418BF7300F4F2 it brings up the survey.
Can anyone else comment? I really want this survey to matter...

Thank you very much!
So I just called Acura to ask them about this survey. I wanted to see if there was a bare-bones link to the survey without my email. I told them about it and they said that Acura does not send out any surveys like that. He said it is probably from Navteq. I then told him the email address that i received the email from (acuranavigation@acura.messages1.com).
Looks like an Acura email address to me.
Anyway I spoke with someone higher up, and they confirmed that it is NOT their survey. I was kinda shocked. So they gave me the number for Navteq.
I called Navteq and they said that they did not send out this survey. I had my rep confirm it with his supervisor and she also said it is not their survey.
I believe it is Acura's survey, however they did not inform the people who I spoke with about the survey.
Either way, this new link on the OP may be the best bet. Thanks to flar for pointing this out. And thanks to Love My TL-S for the speedy change!
All in all, i think that we should definitely keep giving our feedback. Even if there is a chance that in the system it shows me, jonboy, as submitting dozens of surveys, maybe they will get the idea that i sent the link out further.

The whois record indicates that it is the Vovici corporation which looks to be an online survey data gathering company that is likely used by marketing people to conduct surveys for them. I'm not sure that anyone at any company the size of Acura can categorically claim that they know for a fact that a particular survey did not come from some part of the company. Likely what they were responding to was whether or not it was a company wide effort to learn more about their customer base. Given the targeted nature of the survey it could very well come from some small group responsible for just the navigation partnerships. Did you speak to the "Acura Navigation Center" as identified on the survey? The fact that there is a domain with "acura" in the name probably indicates an ongoing relationship between Acura and that survey company as a preferred marketing consultant of some sort. All of this is pure conjecture on my part from the whois database and a background that is *not* in marketing.
As to whether the survey code that is still embedded in your URL is generic or specific to your contact record, that would depend on how that company manages their surveys. While I'm guessing that they handle surveys for a lot of clients, the number seems a little too long to be a number that identifies just one survey. It's long enough for a separate code to be sent to every individual. That, again, is just pure conjecture on my part.
I'm afraid I don't know any more and I'm out of conjectures, but I wanted to reply and let the OP know that they were leaking their email when I noticed it. If we all have mostly the same thing to say in the survey then I'm guessing that it couldn't hurt to all respond even if they only look at the last entry - as long as the last person through here turns out the lights and doesn't send them a response saying "yes, please charge me more for my updates and I'll send a few spare body parts!"

I like my Navi setup, but if I could change one thing, it would definitely be a graphics update. My old FX45's Navi screen was gorgeous. This one makes me feel like it's run by Atari software. So tacky.

lawl mine's still on the 2004 disc. My condo is too new to be on it -_-
filled out the survey. I have my traffic enabled Garmin, thanks but no thanks, Acura.
the fact that a new disc can cost you a portable GPS every time, yeah..no.
