Acura of Manhattan Out of Business !
Acura's only Manhattan dealership is history!
Paragon Acura is now sending out letters to all their customers offering free oil changes and multi-point inspections.
Apparently, they lost their lease having spent the last 2 years on a slightly off the beaten path location on West 57th St. Their old showroom at 47th & 11th Ave was renovated and taken over by Infinity. They were supposed to move to a new location across the street from their old place, but that didn't happen.
How does this look for Acura as the only luxury brand without a spot in Manhattan?

- Consumer Reports gave the new RDX a NOT RECOMMENDED rating. I think I've seen maybe 2 of them.
- The current TL is now SIX years old.
- I occasionally see an IDX, but with no Manual Transmission / Navigation combo, how can they expect buyers to come rushing?
- The RDX's combination of interior room, gas mileage, and price make it a complete joke.
Hopefully they'll rebound with the new TLX, but only time will tell.

The sad fact is Acura cars are not selling well at all these days! The only model I see in large #'s on the roads is the new MDX. Very few of anything else.

Acura build there cars to test waters every Acura we own are slowly becoming #legends and like the the two factors to consider;
1. the company did fall off in sales.
2. the demand for cars in the city is not that high where you have public transportation of all sorts i.e uber which is growing, mta and even the guys on the bicycles

I like Acura but from my point of view they started to dig their own grave beginning 2009 with that wacky 4g TL, the engineer designer probably was drunk or high at the drawing board. As of 2013 Acura TL is the only car lacking all kinda of good tech when compare to infinity, Lexus, BMW, etc.
1. Window auto switch only for the front.
2. no lumbar support for passenger seat.
3. no ELS on standard TL.
4. in some place the plastic is way cheaper than my 3g TL.
5. FWD that still offer 5 AT not until 2012 acura realize they need to upgrade outdated trany into 6 AT.
6. SH-AWD doesn't not sell well in tropical weather like Houston, Miami, etc.
7. You have to spend extra $$$ to get ventilated seat.
8. No LED signal light for front and rear.
9. Out dated design when compare to other competitor.
10. performance is weak when compare to car in similar class.
11. Even a loaded 2013 Accord Touring V6 can out class same year TL with less money.
TLX isn't a game changer like 3g TL did in 2004. Many car out there already offer some feature of the TLX years ahead. Performance isn't ground breaking either.

My buddy just bought a brand new Kia Optima Hybrid loaded with all the options. Blows away any loaner Acura has given me, ever. I would love to stay loyal to the brand, especially due to the excellent customer service my dealer provides but i doubt thats gonna happen.

If you ever work on a Hyundai you will see where they cut costs on manufacturing. It's not anything you'll see until you start taking stuff apart though. Other than that, hyundais appear to be good value cars
I agree it's not a game changer but you should give credit where credit is due. An 8 speed dual clutch and 9 speed auto look to be promising. Competitor cars are using 6 or 7 speeds at most.

believe me I drove a IS-F with 8 AT and that thing some time confuse between gear selection either using 4th or 3rd that kinda annoy me already. I hope Honda doesn't screw up the 9 AT like they did back in the late 90s with the infamous autotragic.

If I were to upgrade right now, the GS350 F-Sport would be first choice as well. The only reason this could be false is if the new TLX came out in a trim that would make me want it more.

I feel the same way - like my 3rd gen is the last of a dying breed of performance inspired Acura's. I'm planning on driving it until the wheels fall off but after that, probably going with something like the Genesis, or possibly investigating the CTS-V more. Also considering something smaller. We'll see. Unfortunately, whatever I pick, it's not likely to be an Acura

1. Went from well known established nameplates to 2 and 3 letter designations for their models
as for point #5 on your list, they went 10+ years with the same basic faulty design for said 5at and it is still available with the TSX some 13 years later.... talk about not caring about what you sell....

I am anxious to see the TLX once it hits dealers, I am not writing that car off just yet. The truth is that in today's car market with all the standard tech almost 99% of the manufacturers offer, the luxury brands really have to go the extra mile to "define" what most people would consider luxury....sadly it seems that Acura hasn't picked up on that yet.
When you can buy a Ford, Toyota, Nissan, or even a Kia and enjoy the same features (and sometimes more) than you get in an Acura....something is wrong.

Has anyone delt with Acura of Manhattan? Their shit. Im glad they closed. Everytime i went there I was treated like i owned a Geo Prizim lol and Paragon is even worst. Acura of Manhattan closed b/c they lost their franchise licese for doing shady things.
