okay, my current 03 tl-s is being replaced with a 04/05 tl. bcuz of 3 tranny failures.
but since they can't get a hold of the specific one i want (anthracite w/ebony 6MT) , they will have to build one for me. so therefore im not getting my new car for another 30-90 days!!! this sucks!

man do you drive your tls like a race car or did you have some of the worst luck ever? 3 trannies in such a short time is almost unbeleivable.

i drive my car like any other driver! i drive it normal. and the car is hardly ever in SS. i just picked the wrong car thats all!

 

you never know. i wonder how tight their engine tolerances are. i know with guitar amps and such, sometimes you get an amp thats said to be 100 watts and its actually around 150. i know there probably arent any accidental 350HP TLs out there, but if their tranny tolerances are based on whatever HP the 2nd gen TL had and your engine for some reason had a bit more HP than usual, maybe that could cause a problem.

 

I had to wait 125 days for my Anthracite/Quartz 6MT/Navi. I hope you only have to wait 30 days......whatever the wait - it's worth it!

I love Acura!!! You will be hard pressed to find another car company that would buy back your automobile and get you a new one. Others should take note.

I had a '98 Audi A4 Quattro....the tranny was a POS. Super stiff clutch (was a problem), and big time driveline shudder. They never stood by their car. I sued for the lemon law and wound up settling for a miniscule amount since they dragged it on for so long. I will never by a VW/Audi product again. I also make sure to let anyone that I know that is interested in Audi/VW's about what they did and to not purchase a product from them. I have cost them quite a few sales. Ah, sweet revenge. Those dead trannies sound familiar we had 3 within 2 years on our old Lemon 02 TLS, we dumped it shortly after for the 350Z.

Duval Acura in Jacksonville had/has one in stock i saw it saturday while i was picking up my new TL. You can give them a call if your a mind too. My sales guy was anothy lewis i'm a repeat customer and he's been there for me both times with GREAT deals. 904-725-4000. I just my antrhocite/ebony/navi/at on saturday. They only had about 4 on the lot but that was one of them. I thought it was MY car when i saw a guy pull it up front and my husband opened the door and saw it was a 6mt. Did you have to file a lawsuit in court or did Honda start talking after the demand letter? Im in the same boat after 4 failed trannies and having to file because we've had no responce to the demand letter. Can you PM me some details on your outcome and which state you filed in?

 

no, unfortunately im not getting the navi! if i want the navi, i have to fork out $2k

 

I just started shopping for a TL last week and was told that if I wanted an Anthracite with 6-speed, I'd have to wait until end of August - early September for an '04 TL to be made for me considering that the color scheme and type of transmission I wanted were hard to find in California at this time . However, I lucked out and was able to get mine last friday as my dealer did a dealer trade with another dealer further away. Check out various dealers. I thought all dealers around my area were the same, but some might be able to pull some strings and are able to get the particular model you want. Nevertheless, you will enjoy this car!

 

you just missed the boat. There were alot of 6MT Anthracites up and down the west coast in the past 2 weeks. Look at my thread "California 6MT Navi Report" and you will see what I mean.

Right now its mostly SSM and NBP for 6MT Navis.

If you dont want a NAVI, PM me and I will run a report when I get back from lunch and see if I can track down a AM 6MT for you. (Do you care about Summer Tires vs All Season?)

 

No, because Acura can't build a tranny worth a shit. Mine went through 2. And it was babied.

plus whats everyone's thought about the navi???? if you already got a navi... how do you like it? if you dont have a navi already, would go back and get one if you had the chance?

 

100% of us NAVI owners would not buy a TL without it. About 30% of the non-navi owners WISH they had bought the navi. If your getting a brand new TL, paying for the navi should be easy. Wasn't the older TL less expensive? Are they trading you out even (except for the navi)? If so, that's great. You've been driving a car for over a year and don't have to take any depreciation hit? Alright! Where do I sign up for this? I understand the tranny pain so I'm not really trying to make fun but it sounds like you got a killer arrangement.

 

Get the Navi, it is well worth the $2k, the voice commands and the huge touch screen are the best, even consumer reports rates the Acura nav the best. You will not be sorry, it adds a great dimension to the car, I swore I would never buy a navi until I saw the dash of the non-navi vs the navi, and now I would never buy without one.
