Yay... Pics up soon..

I got my tints yesterday and when i got the car there were long scratches on my hood long like 3 scratches each like 6 inches long...

But not deep.. So I called him the Finance manager is like come in free detail.. I live in Burbank and the dealer is at calabasas.. Which is a good 26 miles away..


So I go there and wait for my car to get detailed while its getting detailed i go to get it checked out and the guys are like ohh the buffer is broken we have to hand buff it but it wont do much..

I say w.e i get it back and they barely took off anything... (btw my tints are 18% all around) So then the sales manager told me to come again and they will buff it with the machine... so now i got to go AGAIN to calabasas...

Then on my way home i try to raise my passenger side window and it wont go up.. IT goes half way and then goes back down.. I do it once more and it drags sup stripping along with it and it smears its glue or whatever it is all over my passenger side window..

So now I got a scratches hood and a smeared window...... which I can't lower down...

You're not supposed to roll down the windows for a few days after a new tint job

ummm a day and a half .... and in California heat it should be fine....

I didn't roll it down until a day and a half passed..

1) Tint plural is tint. Not tints.

2) I used to tint windows, 2 days minimum to roll down the window is what I would tell people. I live in Texas, its over 100 mroe often than not in the summer. Day and a half is your problem.

I am FL, and it is hot as hell here too. My tint place said 72 hours and they even put little stickers over all the power window switches, to remind you and passengers not to roll them down.

None of that for me and they said 1 day I waited a day and a half to be sure.. I follow instructions if the dude said a week i would do it..

Second of all how could the felt stripping come out that easy for only one window?

If you have a dark car and they polish it out with a rotary I just hope they know what they are doing. If not they can leave the hood all full of holograms that will show up once the glaze they use washes off. I can post a pix of a hologram if you don't know what they are.

Uhhh why the hate... I work 50 + hours a week as an office manager.. If you think I can mess up and get away with it you are terribly mistaken. My mess ups are magnified and I don't really get a paycheck...

Sooo I should go where to detail my car ... Dealer should be able to detail right.. Right ahha? Not like im going to bobs detailing in back of an alley.

Bobs might be better .. a lot of dealer detailers are the lot wash kids .. some arent .. but if they place has a detailer with a broken buffer and no backup then is not a high spot of thier operation.

I have seen more bad messes than good jobs come out of dealers.

The glue with the stripping is called the felt. The tint shop adds this to prevent scratching of the tint. Mine came out like 2 times already and I'm pissed about it.

Who did yours... Did you lower your window and then it wouldn't go up and when it did.. It brought a friend up with it ahha... How long did it take to fix..

Go to the "wash and wax" forum on this site. If you read carefully, you can lean how to "detail" your car yourself. There is a wealth of info in those pages, from vendors and people who have actually done their own paint care. I have a NBP TL and ONLY I touch the paint on this car. Dealers probably don't even know what a paint swirl (hologram) is.

btw - If you work 50 hrs per week, how do you go to school?

i didn't take any chances when my tint was installed. my paranoid ass waited a week before rolling the windows down.

yeah I definitely waited 60-72 hours until I rolled mine - they even put a sticker on it to prevent me from doing so.

If it is done right 24 hours. I have been going to same place for 15 years, the guy has all sorts of tint off trophies and if they squeege out most of the water you can wait 24 hours. Problem is many places don't get most of the water out then you need to wait until it all the water bubbles are gone + 24 hours.

actually you can roll it down after 2 days. you just can't wash your window for another 10 days.
