I know its not that reputable of a source, but, the 22 June 04 edition of PC Magazine has a section in the back called "after hours". This month it had an article called "Car Tech" and went over all the different car tech with the TL being mentioned for its Bluetooth, DVD-A, etc.

The one thing it mentioned that sort of alarmed me was:

Joysticks/LCDs
Rather than adding another switch every time a car gains a function, a handful of automakers - Audi, BMW and soon Acura- are using an in-dash LCD and a joystick like controller to replace nonprimary switches..... (fair enough, we know this)

(Here's the kicker)
Audi's MMI (multimedia interface) provides a more user-friendly approach, with eight buttons to preselect navigation, CD, radio, phone and such.

Acura will adopt an Audi-like solution this fall, and more BMWs will....

Now either they mean in the RL or that they'll change to TL or the entire line?

Does anyone have experience with this Audi MMI? Hope it doesn't screw up the dash or useability. If it would add the Alpine i-pod interface with control of the ipod on the touch screen, then I'm all for it.

Again, anyone have experience with an Audi A8 - it apparently already has this MMI.

 

I think I heard that the Audi MMI is better than the BMW's.

 

Indeed, Audi's looks better.

We all know Acura has been on the way of learning that...
