Acura Buyback Program

Acura Buyback Program
Has anyone received the Acura Buyback Program brochure mailing? They are offering to buy back late model TL's from 2006-2002. They say they want them for loaner cars. For the 2004 TL they are offering 55% of original MSRP. There is fine print about deductions for excess mileage and wear and tear. Nothing about increases for low mileage cars like mine. Doesn't sound like a very good deal when you look at current KBB values for TL's. In my case there was a $ 5,000.00 difference. Makes me wonder if the KBB values are inflated or dealer is trying to low ball us.

This is simply a sales ploy

Naturally the company is trying to lure you in as they are in the business to make money. Take the 2004 TL list price @ $33,000 with a buy back of $18150 (55%)with reasonable mileage. On their lots the cars are bringing $23000/$24000. Not a bad deal for them as they can make $5/$6000 per car, and if a new one is purchased, they can make the markup also, unless the customer knows the "ropes".
Just another come on.

At first, it looks like they're so eager to buy 2006's, they'll give you so much money for one you figure you could get a 2007. Then you go to the dealership and you realize that they're gonna charge list price for the 2007, and there's still a several-thousand dollar difference.
When you step back and think about it, people want a new 2007 more than a used 2006, so the dealer can't pay you as much for a used car as he'd sell a new one for.
It's not like some Hollywood director is shooting a movie where he needs only used TL's and he'd go to any lengths to buy them. (What kind of over-budget movie would overpay for a specific model of late-model used car anyway?)

Just checked out for my 1.5yr old TL and NADA was about $1500 higher for retail and trade in values

This is not a manufacturer ploy, it is a local dealer ploy used by many different dealers in my area. It is done merely to achieve more foot traffic into the dealership, as stated above. These things usually end up in the trash in my house.

I get these mailings all the time from the local Toyota Dealer on my '95 4Runner. They're always disguising the envelopes with different colors, addresses, etc. and desperately wanting "1995 Toyota 4Runners" for resale. Never fall for this ploy, just sales department out to get you. I have never received these types of letters from my Acura TL that I've owned for 7 years. Guess it all depends on your location.
