Accord Remote Key On 05 TL

I did it!! I got the parts to do the key mod on the TL. If any one is interested I can do the write up on how to do it and the parts needed to do it. The DIY on the key is a little complicated and requires that you grind down the new key and do a little cutting on the Accord key.

The only thing that I found that didn't work with the new key, was the "driver 1" and "driver 2" programming. So you are not able to do the auto reset on the seats, and you have to deal with the progressive door locks.

On another note, I recently got the Injen CAI, got it installed and modded it to be like the AEM one with the IAT sensor on the CAI. I am going to get it on the dyno some time in the next week, I will post if the mod had any effect on the performance. From the way the factory IAT sensor is made and where it is located, I feel that there will be a little gain from doing this.

does the seat still move to the driver 1 settings? or does the car just leave things where they are left? i understand that driver 2 won't work...but if ur driving and u change the seats.....and then u get out of hte car...and then unlock the car to come back...will it go back to the driver 1 setting?

I'm confused... What does a accord key look like anyway? Is it a flip key or something?

The car does not retain the memory seat options from the remotes. But they will remain in the postion they where in, and you will need to reprogram the Radio and XM to the new key.

Thank you for the link scrb09.

As for the seats, hers would still be fine. You would have to hit the Memo 1 button on the door when you get in. My wife doesn't drive it, so I don't have to worry about it. It is much nicer to be able to carry just the key rather then the remote and key. Just me I guess.

i don't mean to sound like an idiot or a shmuck but the driver setting #2 is something i can do without. but having driver #1 memory seats is something i definatly need. but what your saying is that ill be able to get out of my car...walk away....and someone is in my car they are playing with the settings of the seats and the XM and the radio settings and all other settings. and i come back and use the accord key...it will go back to driver #1...? cause if thats the case...that would be PERFECT

The radio settings will remain, but if they move your seat you will have to push the memo 1 button on the door to set it back, it won't do it from the remote.

Not that I have found at this time. I don't see any way to do it.

what exactly is the reason we can't use the driver 1 and driver 2 settings....is it something that is in the keyfob? like a chip? that transmits a signal (driver 1 signal or driver 2 signal) and thats what initiates the settings?

Or you could just push the little buttons on the door marked 1 and 2.

Although it is a cool feature to have. It is one that I hardly use. With that being said, it really doesn't take much effort to just hit the memory buttons themselves.

Yep the position for the mirrors are also linked to the 2 memory buttons. Since I am the only one who drives my car, if for some reason the mirrors and seats have bee nchaged, then I just it the button. It only takesa few seconds for everything to go where it needs to.

Now if I was not the only one driving my car, then I may be hesitant on doing this mod. Not because I would find it annoying to have to hit the button, but because if it was my Wife/SO/Family member, I would be afraid that they would think it is not working and reprogram everything.

i have done this mod and the actual chip frequency is what will not keep the driver seat settings.

if you get in the car with the new key and try to change the settings it says that it cannot communicate with the system or something like that so you just have to manually move your seats mirrors

but i love this mod...no need to carry the key and the fob now......all in one now...acura should have just made it like this...or make it like the RL

has anyone tried the RL key mod??

i think that would be sweettttt

^^^ its basically a valet key....you depress a button and the key will slide out...kinda poorly made IMO...not in the sense that it dosn't work right...but it can be easily lost.
