Agreed. I accidentally put a cup of 93 octane in one cup holder, and 87 in the other. After a few miles, I forgot which was which! Can I tell by tasting?

Wouldn't exactly refer to him as a troll...he is just one of the big 87 octane bandwagon guys. We have beat this to death multiple times with people swearing by every octane level out there.

Agreed. Ethanol free 91 octane in KC is usually around $.50-60 over E10 87 octane. E10 91 I think is usually in the +$.40-50 range.

Interesting; yesterday when I filled up I paid $2.39 for 93 AKI fuel, Regular 87 AKI was $2.19; both are E10 here in New Hamster. I wonder why some areas of the country charge so much more for 91-93 AKI fuel.

Can't and won't dispute your claims for 2 tanks of 87, but I did run empirical OBDII data at WOT and didn't rely on my "butt dyno". And 167K miles where my highway mileage (as I clearly stated) remained at ~30 mpg. That includes hot summer weather (95F+) in LA, TX, KS and yes, ND. And I should clarify, that is with summer gas formulation. MPG drops about 2 MPG on winter gas.

Damn, you'd think that my engine should have blown up by now. But nope, still get 30 MPG on the highway and only burn 1/2 quart of oil on 7500 mile OICs...

So you're telling us that the ECU severely retards timing (degrades performance/power) when WOT?

I'd love to see your source on that regarding the J32 WOT fuel map, but I expect it will be much like the link you failed to provide for the UOA...

Not a troll nor an 87 "bandwagon guy". I've never advocated that anyone use 87. I've just relayed factual information from my usage of 87.

As I said before, I've never run a J32 on a dyno and I've never seen any base fuel maps for any Honda motor; that said, the three manufacturers I've consulted to all have a default setting when the TPS senses WOT, and that default is full rich and retarded timing. Both ensure no detonation in high power conditions.

Personally I could care less whether you want to believe it or not, if you really want an answer, do the friggin' leg work yourself. Then again, you probably won't because if you do, you'll discover many of the claims you've been making don't hold water.

This is the second time now where you've requested to be spoon fed information which is easily found, and unless you're spoon fed you're going to obstinately insist you understand the topic at hand when clearly you don't.

For an individual who doesn't have the ability to learn, I have pity, for an individual who refuses to learn, I have none.

All I wanted to know was if I could mix octanes to balance, I didn't mean to start yet another forum-wide debate....mods feel free to close this.
