Accidentally drove car through water. State farm putting in another engine

I accidentally drove my 05 TL with 96k miles through a flooded parking lot. The car first shut off completely then when i turned it on started making a loud ticking sound from the engine. Had it towed to the mechanic and he said there was water inside.
State Farm sent an adjuster and approved the repair. They are putting in a motor with 86k miles on it. Should i get the timing belt and water pump done while they are in there?

How do you accidentally drive through water? You see water, don't hit brakes, then say whoops when the engine dies?

Shouldn't it be totaled when you drive through water? Who knows what kind of electrical issues might pop up later down the line...

I bought the car when it had 69k miles on it already.I bought the car from CarMax so im pretty sure it was the stock intake. Im paying $250 which is my deductible to the shop. How much more should they charge me if get the water pump and timing belt done too while they are at it? There was no water inside the car so i think that is why they didnt total it.

Check with the shop, since it's rebuilding the engine, to see if it is already replacing the water pump, timing belt, etc. I can't see used parts being put back onto the engine after pulling the heads.

Are you picking your own shop? Go talk to them and tell them if they can include it in the price without involving the insurance. You really have a choice where you take your car so giving them your business should put you in the driver's seat.
