A1 service For the non-do-it-ur-selfers
For the non-do-it-ur-selfers - How much do people pay on average for their A1 service? I know the dealers always advertise $29.95 oil change specials etc. but I think they r just trying to trick you into coming in and then they'll charge you a bunch for the extra tire rotation.

I got my A1 done recently for $45, $20 for the oil/filter change and $25 for the tire rotation (or vice versa, i don't remember anymore)
But that was in the midwest, and prices vary by region. You may also want to try Honda dealerships...some ppl have said they are cheaper.

You need to give consideration to the mileage interval that your car is looking for the A1 service at. If you go 3500 miles and get an A1 indicator, *MY* recommendation is to rotate the tires every OTHER service interval. If you're getting the A1 indicator at 7,000 miles (like I do, because I drive all highway), you should consider rotating the tires at EVERY interval.
Now - if you don't want to rotate the tires yourself, have the dealer do it as an actual A1 service (which will cost you anywhere from $45 to $75 dealers, depending on specials and the dealer you're working with).
If you aren't getting the tires rotated at the dealer, you should be able to get your oil changed for about $30.

WalMart? This guy has to be kidding!
No, I've never had a problem with them. In fact WalMart does a complete walk around noting any scratches/dents. They use a torque wrench on the wheels, inflate to proper pressure and note the tread depth. It's a five minute walk from my office.
At some point, convenience wins out.

The A1 service is an oil change (no filter - although most dealers and service shops change the filter) and tire rotation. The B service is an oil and filter change, tire rotation and various checks.
Hope that helps.

Is it true that only a dealer can reset the car computer when doing the service so the service reminder goes off? I'm thinking about the possibility of getting regular oil changes at my mechanic's place rather than stealership....
Thanks

Reset instructions are in the owner's manual

The reset procedure is set out in the owner's manual, and moderator Ron A has posted the excerpt from the manual a number of times, which can be found by searching "reset" and "MID" or "Maintenance Minder" in thread titles.
An independent Honda/Acura mechanic services my TL (and also resets the MID), thus saving me some $$ and time compared to going to a dealer service dept.

Hate to do this, but since lhdz12 can't receive PMs, I need to some how let him know...
Wanted to remind everyone in San Antonio to come to our local meet this saturday at flying saucer off huebner and i-10. 7:30pm.
We will be discussing the big Texas meet on the 17th and just talking about cars. Usually we all part further out in front of the book store.
Keep an eye on acuraclubsa.com for updates. You should come and be part of our local club to make it bigger.
PS, I paid around $80 for my A1 service at Gunn. But I took them my oil.
