A1 Service

I have my A1 service coming up soon. I was wondering what A1 service should include so that when I go to the dealership I know exactly what they should be doing. My dealership charges $39 for oil change and filter change. I have coupon for an oil change (along with the filter change) along with 24 point inspection, pothole inspection, tire rotation and car wash for about $60. I am not sure if my car needs tire rotation yet since it has about 3400 miles on it but all the rest seems to be worth it.

Also I am thinking of waxing it with turtle wax ice, anyone who has used it on their TLs??

$40 oil change? I forgot they lace the oil with gold at Acura dealers. what does pothole inspection get you? don't let them wash it, and if you don't need a rotation don't get it. I went to Honda for my last oil change...$19.

my father likes Turtle Wax.

4.95 for an oil change at an Homda dealer? thats very low!! even compared to Jiffy Lube. Do Honda dealerships do oil change for Acuras too? Why do you say I should not let the dealership wash it?

Is that where they take your old oil out from the bottom and pour it back in the top?

$40 for A1 service is quite normal...and yes, there have been plenty carwash horror stories. They scratch/swirl your paint when they wash your car. The guy that washes them uses dirty rags most of the time and doesn't care about your car. I ALWAYS request "No Carwash" when I go to the stealership.

Depends on how they wash the car. Our local dealership uses a brush, into a bucket then onto the car. Dipping a brush into a dirty bucket of water, then pushing it around on the paint, isn't for me, so I never have them wash the car. Many years ago when I was in college and working for Hertz, this was the same procedure we used to wash their cars and trucks. You wouldn't want to see the paint on the trucks after a while as it looked like they were gone over with fine sandpaper. The cars didn't matter as they were replaced every year, even though the swirls and marks were evident.

Here's some info, Pros and Cons:
