Question Rear Break Light

So since I got my windows tinted I've noticed that the rear break light when lit, shines light INTO my car and is extremely distracting at night. It shines light into the car and off the rear window so it's hard to see through at night. The casing must obviously be loose and I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and what they did to fix it? Any help/advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

The case / cover has a seal around it which should be touching the rear window and keep from light reflecting back. I'm guessing the Yokol's who installed the tint pulled it and didn't secure it back well.. they might have even tinted over the area of the rear brake light (3rd brake light) which is asinine.
1. If they tinted that area.. use a razor and trim it so light won't be reflecting back from the tint.

2. try to secure the cover so the seal touches the back window. If you can't get it to seal / touch.. use black vinyl tape and tape on the inside & out of the cover seal (extending the seal) so it does seal / touch the back window.

No they didn't tint over the break light. The place I got it tinted at is a legit place and are professionals. I'll have to try using the tape idea, thanks!

Legit and pro's are the ones that will tint in the "BRAKE" light area. That way the rear window is covered completely, and properly. Check the cover to see if there is a gap, you will get a little feedback.

pictures would be great

I have 5% on my rear.. the 3rd brake light transmission has to go somewhere and I prefer it to go out than be reflected in.. but my brake switch is acting up so right now it's not going anywhere.. It's personal preference. You really can't tell the gap in my tint because of the cover & brake light. The guys who did my rear window tinted the whole window and cut the inner area inside of the cover seal.. which is better IMO.

to the OP- if all else fails.. change your seating position / rear view mirror.. even a little bit might help.

The mirror and seating position don't have anything to do with it. The light reflects off of my tint at night, lighting up my rear window and rear interior deck. Its not only annoying, its dangerous that I can't see out my back window at times. I'm not sure if it can be seen from the outside but its definitly only loose housing of the 3rd brake light. I'm going to try to use the vinyl tape you suggested earlier this week and let everyone know how it goes (incase anyone else has this problem)

well if it floods the rear that much then I would definitely try to seal it up.. if the vinyl tape is too ghetto.. you can get an adhesive / double sided tape for the cover seal so it adheres to the window but definitely not suggested since it might pull at the tint and may create gaps around the cover. Hope it works out!

I know exactly what the OP is talking about I have had the same problem for the last 2 months since I got my windows tinted. Its almost like a red glare, and when you look in your rear view the back window looks red, its hard to see out of your rear window at night when breaking. My car is at the dealership right now but when I get it back Im going to check the cover like it was mentioned above to see if its not completely on.

I just checked the cover and there was a gap between the cover and the rear windshield. I pushed it firmly and heard it snap in. it looks to be better, but I wont actually know until tonight so I'll check back...
