A1 Service

Got my A1 service done today. Painless experience ... brought it in at 1:00 PM and got it back after an hour or so of waiting. The charge for the service was $50 and after reading a number of posts saying it was about $80 -$100, this is a good thing. Sad to say my original service advisor is no longer there, so I had to meet the new guy. Wouldn't tell me why he left ... kinda makes you wonder. Got it done at Elk Grove Acura. Very clean bays and well lit service areas. One minor complaint, told them not to wash the car cause it was raining, just vacuum the interior. Guess what? Yep, they did. Oh well!

I also asked about the butt prints on the seat and the service advisor had no clue what I was talking about. So I explained, showed it, and mentioned the 05's had a triple panel on the lower cushion. Anyway , there was another customer there having his TL serviced and I struck up a conversation with him. We talked about the TL and I asked about his seats and if they looked abnormal. He then looked at the drivers seat, felt it and promptly went to the service advisor to ask about it. Two complaints about the same item in one afternoon. They want to let the service manager take a look at it so I gotta take the TL down there sometime this week. And hopefully maybe a new seat cover (probably won't help).

Off topic .... While I was waiting, I checked out the 05 RL. A beautiful car. I noticed the mud guards are painted and 1 year trial period for XM. The parts guy was telling me a potential buyer was doing a test drive the weekend before and he put it in a ditch. That particular stretch of road they were on is used by big rigs and trucks and not the smoothest of roads. To top it off, it had rained earlier. Totally messed up the front end.

A1 service should just oil change. My dealer did it for just US$40 which already is expensive

B1 service is oil change + tire rotation which many quoted for US$100+ and my dealer quoted me for US$ 200 which is outrageous

A1 includes tire rotation (A is the oil change and 1 is tire rotation).
B1 is pretty much the same with a laundry list of additional inspections

IMO, $50 for an oil change and tire rotation ain't bad. I didn't get dirty and don't have to worry about disposing the oil. Jiffy Lube charges more than that just for an oil change. The point I was making is that it cost me less than what a lot of folks were paying and getting quotes on. For example, your quote from the dealer.

I have gone to the same Acura dealer for all of my TLs and their service writers change between oil changes. I can't believe how many I have seen come and go. That said the service at Acura of South Florida has always seemed to be reasonable to me. It is not, however, what I would call a "Premium" service experience.

I have taken all of my cars to dealerships for service, and over the years, the one thing I have gotten into the habit of ALWAYS doing is watching as they service my car. I will not always stand in the service area itself but my car will always be visible to me and I will always oversee what is being done. Yes, I have had one or two instances where that has not been possible but generally I can oversee who and what is being done to my car. I'm sorry but after several less than stellar experiences years ago I don't trust any car service PERIOD; so I watch!

If they don't like it, tough

At what mileage is A1 and B1 supposed to be done?
