99 tl vs volvo t5

I have I/H/E on my 99 tl-p. I got walked slowly by a 97 or 98 volvo t5. It was the boxy lookin sedan with the stock 5 star rims, it looked stock but the thing was fast.

Volvo T5s are no joke. I knew somebody with a 1998 T5, with just a down pipe / catback exhaust he was running mid 13s.

Nice run. Those T5's are fast. My friend had a white one that was stock and it pulled hard down low and up top! I believe they have 240HP.

P.S. The cars weren't bad either.

Soccer moms who want to run a 14-flat in the 1/4 mile maybe, as in the case of the S60R...which is faster than any stock TL (save for the 07-08 Type S).

Sounds like you are confusing the S60 with the Focus/Mazda3 based S40. That said, we are talking performance NOT reliability. But let me know if Azine should include a Consumer Reports oriented subforum....for those insistent on weighing performance and reliability equally.

I initially posted that with some sarcasm but, on second thought it might not be a bad idea for a consumer report subforum in the car talk section.

Let me ponder it further before proposing to the admins.

Thats for the S40 T-5 and is a newer engine. The 97-98 Volvo T-5's are made in the S70 Platform. Both sedan and wagon versions can come with the High Pressure Turbo producing around 240HP. My buddy had a white one and it hauled arse!
