'97 TL vs. 01 (?) CL

Well today I'm in Portland and all over the area are plenty of 2 lane ramps that merge into one before entering the expressway. In my case, I'm leaving the downtown area to get onto I-5, the ramp is long enough that I can get up to 80 mph by the time I need to merge...

So a gentleman in what I assume is a 2001 CL (non type S) is to my right at the red light. He's wearing shades but I can tell he wants my lane

Denied.. I beat him by 4 car lengths by the time the lanes merge.. (approximately at 75 to 80 mph)

Good race, I assume his car is stock. Mine is not.

There are soooo many un-known circumstances in that situation. But, if it makes you happy ...

Obviously, but it sure sounded like his car was trying.

It's not unreasonable given your mods. The CL-P would be 225hp stock. Have you taken your 97 TL to the track? 4 car lengths on CL-P is beating it by quite a bit.

Back when you had the 03 TL-P, was the power difference between it and the 97 really that big?

I've only done informal testing on the '97, I REALLY need to get it tested on the 1/4.

The '03 had a smoother power delivery. The '97 has a massive power surge in the midrange. I'd say the '97 would be faster by a small margin, however a "butt dyno" isnt very scientific.

And then there is my '05.. that thing can move.
