85122+ bulbs

are the philips d2s 85122+ bulbs from retrofit the same as the ones in hidplanet?

Besides the zkw-r and 85122+ bulbs, what else do I need to have the best light output? Is that all I need to buy?

i got the 85122+ from theretrofitsource.com and i couldn't be happier. As far as them being the same bulbs i don't see why they aren't, unless one site has fakes which i doubt. They're both Phillips 85122+ and as far as i can tell same brand same model. For $80 from retrofit you can't beat it and they're brand new. I'm not sure but i think all you need is the lenses and the bulbs and you will be set. I just bought the bulbs without lenses and they are bright. Just make sure you adjust your headlights because my dumb @ss bought the 85122+ when i had the 85122's in already thinking they were dull when my light's were pointing to the ground. if i had known that i wouldn't have even bought the 85122+'s

The output is good. But the color is . I bought a pair to install after JNC did my headlights and the ZKW swap. I liked the Osram color better. But to each his own. I have the bulbs in a box in my garage i'll sell you if want them. PM me

Just a FYI there is a big misconception regarding the 85122+ bulbs. They are not brighter than the stock Osrams or the regular Philips 85122 bulbs. From my understanding they were designed to remain at the new lumens rating longer. So technically maybe 4 years down the road they might be a tad brighter its not enough to notice a difference.
They are also very yellowish compared to the 85122 and osram bulb.
I tried out the 85122+ bulbs and immediately pulled them out and put the stock osrams back in because they were VERY yellow and stay that way. The 85122 and osram will be yellow when new but will quickly go away and become the normal white color.

This goes against what everyone says. Jnc says that they are brighter and some other people here at the forums.

Yea they're about like the stock fog lights. I have switchbacks and custom white sidemarker lights and it didn't match at all. Just wasn't feeling it. The brightness was a little better than the Osrams, but then again I have the ZKW lenses and that made the Osrams look brighter than before anyways

I have the true ZKW swap, and the 85122+ bulbs. 3 plus lanes worth of width on the highway, and super crisp cutoff. I couldn't be happier. And seeing as most of my driving occurs at night, in rural areas I wouldn't choose any other combo.

As far as I know the + bulbs were not designed to be brighter than the non+ bulb they were designed not to color shift meaning they will basically stay yellow their entire life. Maybe many many hours of use the + bulb will be a couple lumens higher but nothing drastic or too noticeable.
Once again they are NOT brighter than the regular 85122 bulb. I also tried the + bulb and I immediataly saw the color difference and I noticed no increase in light output.
Hope this helps,
James

I wont get the 85122+ because of the color, i like the super white color my tl has now. However, its 4yrs old with 107k miles on it and I dont know if the bulb is dying because i find myself turning the fogs quite often on the streets of nyc to see any pot holes. Could it be that my original bulbs are dying?

I have a ZKW-R swap with 85122+ bulbs.
I get 3 lenes plus worth of width on the highway as well.
It doesn't look that bright when looking at it shot on the ground [or wall] but you do indeed notice the difference from Osrams over these 85122+. At least, I know I do.

The light has more of a yellow hue over the Osrams.... But when I look head on into the headlights all I can say is "damn". I hate to be the fool who gets highbeamed back by me.
