6Spd Base VS 6SPD A-Spec

According to the car magazine (car and driver or Motor trend, dont remember), the A spec mt 1/4 mile run is about 14.25 while the base mt is 14.44. I know the difference in suspension and some other cosmetics such as spoilers and wheels, but i always thought that drive train is same. Is A-spec really faster than base MT?

There is no major deiffernce in performance it's just that when "carandriver" did the test, the a-spec came out the factory with stickery tires, 18inch rims and stiffer (1inch lower suspension) then the base, but there pretty much identical and race is gonna be even. (depending on shifting)

OMG are you guys kidding? Obviously the A-Spec is much quicker, it's the A-Spec.....right?

There's no difference. They should've put the 3.5 in there

lol no one said there quicker just stating why caranddriver changed the quarter mile by two tenths. and yea the 3.5 would of been sick but then no one would have bought the type- s when it came out. lol

The stiffer suspension and the lighter wheels/stickier tires probobly helped the A-spec achieve a quicker time for car and driver. I would say that a base TL 6MT could also achieve a 14.2 with a great driver.

Yup, ran about that time last year at zMax with crappy tires and no mods. Base 6MT TL is capable of hitting 14.0-14.1 with a nice low 60' time

I always thought the difference was because of different driver not because the a-spec is faster.

Somewhat to Sonnick's post, Acura should have produced the TL-S instead of the A-Spec.....and possibly made the A-Spec pkg an option. While the A-Spec was a nice scoop of gravy for an already sweet looking 3G TL, in and of itself it was a relative disappointment. (Acura got it right for the 07 model year by implanting the RL derived motor.)

I agree that acura should have brought the TL-S back in 04 instead of waiting until 07. I would also like to see a accord type-s but that is just wishfull thinking
