6MT TL vs auto 335i convertible
Just ran it from a 20mph roll on Providence Rd, we were dead even till 100mph. I talked to the guy at a red light and he didn't even know his car was turbo I asked if we could run again from 20mph and the same result! Never thought I'd even stay close but I guess this little TL still has some go! 105K and it's running strong! haha
I really wanna go above 100mph and see what happens, BMWs always have good top end but I think I would have pulled slightly in 4th

Nice job. I inched on a regular coupe with my TLS a few years back, we went to about 135 mph. I assume it was auto. Notice how everyone always comments about 4th gear, which as you and I know is particularly strong up top in 6MT TL's, yet someone will be very skeptical and start comparing some irrelevant magazine numbers or 1/4 mile times in a few posts, just watch.

Ok, you wanna be like that, I'll play.
You say you pulled a car length on a 335i coupe from ~60-140 mph in a bone stock TL-S 5AT, which isn't happening unless the BMW driver either falls asleep or misses a couple gears, yet last week you started a thread asking if you can beat a 328i:
https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/08-tl-type-s-vs-09-bmw328i-vs-06-g35coupe-813970/
And I'm pretty sure me talking about a 335i convertible is quite relevant to this thread.

I wasn't gonna say anything, but I would've said something similar if I did
Nice run Alex. The convertibles are definitely heavy cars, but still powerful. I'm with ANX on this one though, I would've thought you'd creep on him a lil bit. Nonetheless, good run.

If I still had my exhaust I'm sure I could have done better in a 20-100mph race.
Btw his BMW sounded really good!! I had my window open and he did a fly by.

Needed the money and it was raspy as hell! I wanted the resonated version anyways. I'll get it back one day, I miss the lil rush of power at like 6k rpms
All he had to do was push the pedal lol I'm the one making sure I don't fuck up my shifts haha

How much power you think I'm losing just running a stock exhaust vs atlp? I'm just curious cuz it feels like a lot

No more exhaust or pulley. Just pre-cats, jpipe & test pipe, intake, short shifter, checkvalve delete. I don't have the crazy top end like I did with the atlp exhaust.

Just take out your test pipe, you'll get the power back

I suppose you didn't get the memo regarding the TL-S being the fastest sedan in this segment and that only Hondaphiles know how to extract the performance needed to make the TL-S 5AT faster than any BMW 335i.....and maybe even the E90/E92 M3 given the right circumstances.

i love having an auto for convenience and for those times when you are trying to eat in the car or dial a number or something. impossible to do while driving a stick. however, why does the 5at have to lose so much power in the tranny? why cant honda make a decent 6speed auto?
