finished. install was a bitch
6k's don't look too different than stock though -_- which was the even bigger disappointment; although they do have a certain cool, bluish tint to them - originally, that's what I was going for, until I THOUGHT I saw a set of 6k headlights - turned out to be at least 7k or 8k...

damn it; i removed the bumper because i knew i'd have to fiddle with that stupid jewelry specific tool that holds the bottom "boot' over the bulbs. and damn it again, I KNEW I should've gone with with Kaixen or what not; I went with the HIDExtra bulbs... they were only 35 bucks!

Nothing looks better than the factory bulbs Id say. Stock all the way!

35 bux for HID bulbs? lol.. wait..wait..did you expect quality?
You can go via fender, or like other suggested by removing the battery. First time you are doing it, it is about 1 hour of careful fiddling, next time it's a 5 minute breeze.
Philips, Kaixen, Xetronic... D2S/D2C

But looks? 5500 - 6000K is a beautiful white output with a tiny hint of blue...much much sexier..especially with fogs to match than "yellowish" stock.

$35 bulbs? id probably be worried too
i recommend taking the bumper off the first time, to get an idea of how where the tamper-proof screw is, and how to change the bulb
ive gone through the fender lining several times. its easy, but you have to do it blind.. as you cant see anything from that angle.

LOL alright, alright...JEEZ! As for the install, it went pretty smooth. No real major problems expect for that stupid hex shaped thing that held the bulb in; I ended up cutting it off. As for the HID bulb...LOOKS wise, it isn't too bad. I've NEVER had any sort of aftermarket hid bulbs before on the TL (or any other car of mine in the past for that matter), and from what I can tell...it looks pretty damn good. I compared it to the stock lights via another Ziner and it FOR SURE looks pure, clean white (with a hint of blue). Compared to the OEM factory bulbs, they aren't as "yellow," believe it or not. Quality wise I have nothing else to compare it to. As for the output, I'd say it's just fine - I'm not happy with how bright it is unfortunately, but it'll do for now until I decide to go with another brand. Do other brands (top end) offer a great # of lumens per increase in temperature?. I'd have to say though, IN THE RAIN, the freaking 6k bulbs are quite frankly...sh$*; I find myself using more often than previously, my fog lights.
What exactly defines "quality" in the world of hid bulbs? I'd switch over to Philips (etc) if they gave out a higher output of lumens (brightness). Anyone?

supposedly the the 8*****+ bulbs are supposed to be the best output. But DEF. not going to be bluish...as they are just stock with a higher lumens output. IF you take off the rim and go thru the fender liner you are able to see what you are doing. VERY tight, but can still be seen.
I may try and put 1 factory bulb back in and leave my DDM tuning 6K one on the other to see if I can actually see a huge difference.

The higher in temp (K) you go, the lower the lumens, thus less output. The higher in temp (K) you go, the blue/purple the color will appear. Daytime ends at 5500K or so, anything above that you are going to sky light which has those blue/purple hues.
6000K provide the best of both worlds, but you do take away from your lumens; stock 4300K (Osram/Philips) bulbs win.
The difference between the brands, in regards to lumen output, they are more or less all in the same boat, but when it comes to longevity and proper heat protection, warranty, they are not. I've tried all the bulbs, and my fav still will be Xetronic for the color hue it produces and the Philips for crispiness.. Changing the projection lense is another route to achieve perfection.
PS There is absolutely no need to remove the steering wheel, just turn it away from you. Working behind the fender is only hard because you are going in blind, and you have a high chance of touching the bulb. But it can be done with patience.

My 6000k bulbs from HIDextra worked fine for $35. But nothing near white or hint of blue, it flickered like crazy and light output is (TURQUOISE). I had to squint alot to see shoot I'd rather have pink, maybe just a bad batch. Good for spare anyways. $25bucks shipped any biters? 1week old. lol
