But I do spend extra $ on a bottle of Lucas oil stabalizer for about $11.. worth it? idk.. there're mix feelings on it!
Don't use the lucas crap. There's no need for it and its a big blob of VIIs which gum everything up. This stuff is for an engine that's about to die and you don't care about the long run. This stuff is obsolete with today's oils.

That article has been around for a while. Ball bearing / load tests aren't a true measure for wear protection.

1/ very informative
2/ but kinda outdated...
I think that article was from 2004 and companies could change a lot in 7 years!!
Red line and Mobil are worse than Valvoline and Purple Royal??

switching over earlier is better than later.

My phone is super low downloading that pdf but it sounds like the Amsoil bearing load test. No relevance to engine oil, I think it was used to test grease years ago. In one test they showed that bleach did better in that test than any oil. Gonna read it in a few.

They are made exactly the same, except the KN has usually $1 markup over the Mobil1. Probably because the KN has the nut welded on the base of the filter hahaha!

Missed this. They are both mfg by Champ Labs (so is RP) but the KN filter media is cellulose and the M1 filter is a synthetic blend. The synthetic blend media filters finer particulates so it's definitely the better filter of the two, even though they have the same construction. Anyone who says they're the same because the canister is exactly the same and has the same stamping on the cap is wrong.
