6000K or 8000K??

When you first turn on your lights and it gives off that blue-green color, I'm looking to have that look at all times. Would I get that by going with 6000k or 8000k HID's? They are D2S right?

6000k will give you a slight blue and 8000k will give you a strong blue look

6k will give you more light output, but 8k will give you more blue-look

I feel like anyone running over 5k is going to look a little bit ricey. When HID's first became popular, I loved the 6k on my old Prelude, but now so many people have them (at least where I live) that they have become really annoying. Especially without projectors.

But to answer your question, go with 6k if you must. Personally 5k is the absolute cleanest, most luxurious look IMO.

Niether. Go 5k.

I had 6k on my TL for awhile. The output sucked. I went back to stock

Go with 5k and get a ZKW projector lense swap.

6k all day. 8k is way too blue. But 5k is definately the most "luxurious" looking and has the best light output

4300K have the most lumen (light),and It's the HID came on all cars. But if you want the color go with 6000K. My wife had 06 accord 6 years ago with 6000K HID. WE both don't like it, because it's too blue.

I have the 8k and when i'm beside my friend with 6k its such a huge difference in output. Like others have mentioned, 5k is the best and I will be going back to them on my next set.

My son had them in his 04' Subaru WRX & got pulled over, nailed with $53 ticket. The cop said: "Everytime I see you driving with these lights I'll write you a ticket" He came home & removed them. I'm glad to have the assurance of cops protecting us law abiding citizens from those reckless law breakers driving around with aftermarket halogen lights. I feel so much safer now!

Anybody have any pic comparisons? Seems likes there's a 50/50 with either 8K or 5K (which I don't believe I've seen before).

I'm not sure why people get anything other than 4300/5000k for the TL seeing that it's a projector headlight. All you're doing is losing lumen and for what? Color on the ground? When you look at your projector headlights you do realize it changes color depending on where you're standing due to the color band cut off, right?

Anyway, it's your car and if you care about looks more than visibility, I say go for it!

I say go with 3000K. They are way better for driving in weather.

I wish there were more cops like that in my area. Every morning I have to deal with these idiots with blue and even purple lights that have no usable output yet blind oncoming drivers. Every morning the ones coming the opposite way get my brights in their face. It really is distracting and it is a safety hazard. Why should other people suffer because some guy with bad taste decides the color of his lights is more important than blinding other drivers? I could care less how ricer they want to be but when it affects me, I start caring.

Now if they're just halogens and not blinding oncoming drivers I don't see the issue.

going off of what VanyDotK said, imo the whole attraction to these higher kelvin bulbs is to replicate the look of higher end cars like BMW or Lexus

but people have to realize it's the cutoff that makes the lights appear colorful, not the actual bulb. The blue you see is merely the cutoff from their OEM projector/bulb setup. You can mod the TL's lenses and cutoff shield to do the same.

I'd rather maintain a bulb color that's similar to sunlight.

6k max. Anything beyond that looks tacky IMO.

I'll admit the TL cutoff sucks, but as ez12a said it can be modded to look better without losing lumen. I still miss my s2k projectors, those were the best.

Congrats, you have managed to get brighter lights with less light output

no need to change fuses when replacing bulbs.

You really shouldnt be changing any fuse ratings at all if you're talking about the factory fuse boxes.

Those ricers get flashed by my high beams too! I wish there were more cops cracking down on illegal headlights (HIDs in reflective housing) and noisy exhaust. Really brings the quality of life down and disturbs others.

And oh yeah, 4300K > All !

I've found that it's best to do it when you are behind them, then they can't flash back and they get a taste of their own medicine for a longer period.
