6000+ miles = better performance

I know this has been discussed before but I can definitely state that the performance of my TL has definitely increased after 6000 miles. The car seems to get up to speed faster and shifts much smoother, again this could be me. I know in the past when I would mash the gas, the car would get up there, but now it seems quicker. I use the word "seems" because I haven't actually timed myself or anything else like that.

So those of you that just got the TL, be ready for a nice surprise around the 6k mark. This car is great, been extremely happy with my purchase.

Hmm If this is true. I guess I have to wait a year more before I can actually test this out . Bought Nov 05 and currently 2300 miles.

Wow!!!!!!!

I bought Sep 05 and have 15,000 miles. Sorry, I didn't notice any change in performance. That may be beacuse 99% of my mileage is in commute/traffic mode.

I haven't noticed a difference even after an oil change over the weekend.

HenryNYC and XtraKrispy, you guys need to go out and enjoy the car more!

I've had my car since Dec '05, current mileage is 6100 miles. I guess those 80 miles to Irvine every weekend isn't helping.

Not sure, but this has been discussed. Guess it is all about breakin, I have no idea, I am an idiot when it comes to engines and pistons, etc. Does the TL adapt to the driver? Maybe that is why.

I should hit 6000 miles sometimes this week. What i have notice is that...my mpg have been stuck on 27mpg ..doing highway driving ( even after reseting). I think the reason is that i never gotten an oil change yet. My MID do indicate "A1" service, which I will do next week..since this week im stuck in my Microsoft certified Professional class...and when i get out the Acura service dept is closed.

I use to get about 30-34mpg on Highway... im expecting it will go back in that range when i get my oil change.

Oh yeah, what is the average price for an A1 service (oil change and tire rotation)?

Break-in + adaptive tech

The TL does have an adaptive auto transmission, so it may have adapted to your "mash the gas" driving style.
Generally, most cars gain a little bit in performance (acceleration, miles per gallon, braking, top speed) after a few thousand miles of driving for a bunch of mechanicals-related reasons reasons(rings seated, tires scrubbed in, etc.).
You may be feeling the effects of both the adaptive tech and break-in. Enjoy!

I would love to drive my car more but I usually only drive it about once or twice a week. I carpool to work with my wife so the TL usually stays in the garage. I just put on the a-spec front lip and it looks fantastic. I'm still looking for aftermarket hypermesh rims to go on the TL but I'm having a real hard time finding ones that I like that will clear the brembos.

I also did notice a slight change in the current MPG on this tank than the previous tanks--probably because my average MPH is slightly up therefore so is my MPG. I'm hoping that it will get better with time. My oil life is at 50%.
