6 speed vs auto 2004 tl
I'm looking to get an 04 6 speed tl with about 65k on it, but it has a 7 year 100k waranty. My head is spinning right now. I thought that Hondas were good cars, and I knew they had some problems with the auto trannys. Here's the deal, I didn't know people were having so much trouble with the manuals now too. Should I just not touch one of these cars, or what? It doesn't sound like they even know what the problem is either if your lucky enough to get everything replaced...
Hope I gave enough info thanks.

Using different fluid in the transmission helps the 3rd gear issue.
If this is your commuting / daily driver in a highly populated city, AT would be your best bet.
Those are the only circumstances where you should get a 5AT TL lol.

hey stark6935! yes some ppl's 3rd gear was a lil rough but with my warranty i got it replaced and now its GOOD AS NEW!!! with your warranty don't even worry about it. besides like mmade22 said, you get much better equipment with the manual and never regret it!!

Honda issued a TSB for the 3rd gear issue. Many others have changed the fluid to the GM stuff. Since the vehicle your looking at has an extended warranty- that should be reassuring? Test drive the piss out of it and make sure it doesn't have the issue. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

Thanks for the comfort guys. I test drove an 03 accord 6 speed also, but have yet to drive the tl. It's kind of a ways away, but the price is right, so I may take a trip there this week. Does this sound like a good deal to you... 04 tl 6 speed, red pearl, navigation, acura certified (so 100k waranty, or 7 years), for 16998.00..? That is just what they are asking for it.

Some have had problems with the clutch; you might ask if it has been replaced already.
Mine was replaced under warranty at 18k miles, it's fine now at 40k, but I'm still nervous about it. I put 150k on the previous clutch car I had and it was still fine when I sold it.
On these cars, the clutch feels different than most other cars. I would be concerned if the clutch starts to engage too close to the floor or too close to the top of the pedal travel. If that seems OK it's probably fine.

^^^18k miles on the first clutch?!?! That seems likes someone either learned on that clutch or just doesn't know how to drive stick. That is just too soon even for NYC miles.

There was a problem with the self-adjusting pressure plate.
