5AT SS Cruising Gear
I have grown very accustom(?) to driving with SS most of the time, even though I chose the 5AT. When cruising on highways at 55/65, I seem to like the feel of SS 4th better. I realize revs are slightly higher (2500 vs 2000, not that noticeable) and gas mileage may take a hit, but just curious what other 5AT owners are doing.

I also ride on SS 4th or even 3rd (50-55 MPH) whenever I'm traveling at less than 70 MPH.
I don't like the feel of the engine just barely above idle rpm.

I usually do..
2nd and 3rd to get up speed..
4th to cruise..
and 5th (if I'm lucky) when you are actually moving on the highway for an extended period of time. Which is rare in New Jersey considering my avg speed is 15 or something. hehe

Think your subtle vibration at low RPM is part engine and part exhaust system. To get ultra low emissions and a bit more HP, something odd is happening in our exhaust system that others say creates resonance while the system thransitions btw low and mid RPMs.

And in fourth at freeway speed you have more responsiveness underfoot if you need to zip past a truck or something. 6th on the MT is probably not much "lower" than 4th on the AT (2070 rpm at 60mph). Still for a long cruise, say across Indiana on I-90 I guess I would use 5th, if I had the auto. At 75 to 80 it would save lots of gas and wear.
