Exclamation Software crash!

I was playing with the Nav system tonight on the drive home. I think I was trying to enter a name (because a lookup based on a category does not always show the proper places) and the system went quickly back to the map display without accepting my input. Then I noticed several other items stopped working:

- The LCD entries between the two temperatures was blank (no CD time, XM channel info, etc.)
- The voice recognition button on the steering wheel did not "beep". It briefly muted the speakers. It did not accept input.
- All Nav buttons on the center console (zoom, cancel, menu, setup) did not work
- I switched to XM but could not change the channel (with either the steering wheel button or the knob) (The CD and AM/FM radios worked)
- The voice recog. "cancel" button on the steering wheel did nothing.

The moving map display was working correctly.

I "rebooted" the system by turning off the car and turning it back on again. At that point everything worked fine.

Did anyone else have this experience?

With such a software intensive car Acura should have a way to report software bugs. With no way to reproduce it this problem will never get fixed.

The same thing happened to me last Tuesday.

I thought it was because the navigation system got frustrated with me for driving so slow and not taking directions (ha ha). I had been playing golf and got caught in rush hour traffic – 45 minutes hour to go 12 miles. I had requested “go home” and had a route, but was driving in stop and go traffic most of the time and had taken lots of side streets (rather than the freeway).

Just before I got home I noticed exactly the symptoms you described. I did the Microsoft fix (turned the car off and back on) and the problem disappeared.

Something simular happened to me last Sunday. When I re-booted mine it started up with different software. It came up with the software for the Honda Accord's system. The dealer took care of the problem.

Acur8tly, how did they fix it? Did they replace the unit, or did the tech line talk them trough it.

Also, the other drivers should report it to thier dealers next time in so that they can address the problem, hopefully it will not keep happening.

Maybe version 1.04 of the DVD disk took care of this issue and the mis-spelling in the start up screen?

I sent you a pm about the whole thing. The dealer eventually replaced the unit. Brain and screen. I have version 1.03 and so far so good.
