I was driving back to the dealership today and I was next to a new Taurus. I kinda felt like I was driving the same boat with different emblems.

The new 2014 G37 IPL will have 3.7 Twin Turbo..530 HP
but they said it will be around $80000
will be compared with Nissan GTR

I drove the loan AWD TL also, and yeah it's crazy fast but at the same time I am wondering how it would be compared to and G37 S, 330HP

Anyone tried both?

The black G37 S looks just like the Black TL type-s with the gun metal rims and all. Infiniti definitely got some ideas from the tl type-S.

I haven't driven a G37 type-S but I'm sure if it's faster at all. Need to see the curb weight and power loss ratio for Infinitis drive trains.

Hyundai....no thanks.


Please please please please give us a 3.2 or 3.5 TURBO TL type-S for the next generation of TLs. Priced under $50k. AWD. I'm thinking high 380s horsepower.

The Genesis coupe seems like it has everything there to be a great car, but I think the Hyundai name attached to it is what keeps most people from buying it.

A new one is too expensive... But I will never buy a new car again regardless.

I waiting for the 5g TL to come out and get a manual when it's 2 years used.
Being 33 with kids, you think 4 to 5 years ahead in your life when it comes to goals like a car. (wife wants an 4g, hopefully the 5g we both like)

SH-AWD vs the fwd 4G TL - interior seats - more bolstered, stitching in the seats , steering wheel is thicker, the steering really firms up at speed.

push it hard in a turn and you would be amazed by the outside rear tire pushing you thru the turn (as it spins faster than the other rear tire) - the SH-AWD / handling - sold me on the car - got me past the grill

I have a 2012 TL Tech as a loaner right now. Im not a fan of the larger size of the car but that things moves...looked down at the speedo multiple times catching myself doing over 90mph without even feeling it...

But I will happily take my Type-S back.

the grill might be better but the bottom part to the bumper is so ugly...just made it worse

i think not. They just bought the 4G for different reasons than just looks. Say what you will but a 4G 6MT SH-AWD would be a blast to drive. I've driven the auto and can only imagine a 6MT. It would destroy a 3G TL-S around a track.

There isn't a magazine review of the 3G that said it looked ugly. Cant say the same with the 4G.

We can only hope the 5G will be better, but knowing Honda, things have just been going down the drain in design.

I personally can't stand the 4G design, even with the "refresh", but it just makes me feel that much prouder getting in and out of my 3G instead of having to "warm up" to the looks of the car. I know some people like it right out of the gate, but the lower sales of the 4G compared to the 3G speak for themselves.

In my mind, the 3G TL is the perfect car, especially for road trips. To quote one person that came with me on my last road trip, "this is the perfect mix of everything. You get great gas mileage, it's got navigation built-in, it's comfortable, it's luxurious, has enough cargo room...and most of all, it's sexy as hell, even more than some newer cars." Plus it's a Honda, so it's going to last forever if I do regular maintenance on it (I'm already at 158k), and I plan on driving this car to the ground and then just getting another 3G TL, which may be a challenge.

I'm not a fan of the trend of making all these newer cars so much chunkier, either- just imagine the mileage you would get if they put those cars on a design/weight diet while still keeping the improved engines. That would be REAL progress.

And ironically enough, the 3G TL is considered heavy for its class, even in the NHTSA's eyes.

I have a 2012 TL Tech on loan right now since my TL-S is getting the hose recall fix as well as replacing the engine oil pump as part of Acura Care. It was leaking and they were going to just seal it again, but they are replacing it completely which is better!

Anyways, the 2012 is growing on me. It is definitely much bigger - I feel like I am pretty disconnected from the road with the lack of road noise, the increased electric steering assist, and I feel I'm sitting much higher on the road as well.

However, I do like the engine. Probably not as fast as the TL-S but it has some oomph when I want it. The sound system is a step up from the TL-S even though that has ELS as well, but the highs sound much more crisp.

Tech-wise, I didn't like the knob at first, but I'm getting used to it. seats feel more comfy but that could be because they are newer. I love the steering wheel on the 2012, smaller and the leather feels nice.

My take - this would be a great long-distance commuter car/weekend trip car because it is much more quiet and plush.
