4G Loaner

My 3G is at the dealership having some work done and I have a 4G for the day. As many of us have stated before, I still like the 3G better - the design is timeless!

Little things I noticed from driving it all day - Goo and Bad.

Good
The car feels like it has so much power. It really moves effortlessly.
The bluetooth streaming capability. Fucking awesome!
The seats are much nicer. They feel better on the ass and to the touch.
The functions of the navi unit - I.E. weather updates is a "cool" feature

Bad
The odd look of the rear end.
The door panels on the inside feel cheaper than the 3G.
The door panels also look very weird to me. something is off.

Just a few things I noticed and wanted to share.

LOL!!! 3g has nicer navi bc its touch screen which seems more high tech than using a "knob". id rather type than spin a pad lock if u know what I mean.

Car and Driver recently compared the usual mid-size sports sedans. BMW 3 series, Audi A4, Volvo S60, Mercedes G250, and Infiniti G25. Why not a new 2012 TL?

Lows: "still funky looking"

The newest upgrade to the grill are a lot more pleasing to the eye.

I have all the same issues with the 4G as well, but the deal breaker for me is the increased length of the car. I would likely have those familiar 'vertical racing stripes' on the funky bumper in no time with that car from my roll-up garage door. My 3G has a pair of stripes and I'm pretty careful.

1st time I saw the 4G I didn't like the look.

Once when my 2004 3G was in for service - had a loaner 4G - ok
Then I test drove the 4G SH-AWD model - handling - sold me

I've driven the newer TLs and I'm not impressed enough to give up the 3G and every time I go to a stealership around my area they never have a SH-AWD.

I hated it when it first came out, but have since warmed up to it - especially once they made the grille smaller. And the prices they're giving them away at now seem like a pretty good deal.

Besides the design being bad, the size of the car is to big...
It's like the old RL. Size is the big part makes me hate it.

But as far as I know, cars are getting bigger now as the new models come up.
The RLX Concept...looks big as BMW 7
http://www.leftlanenews.com/photos/a...picture-8.html

Dad had 09 RL. It was just perfect size car for an old man..
But this 4G TL...I don't know where to put it...
Not an old man car, not a sport car (small and low)
If it was super fast, than oke good but it's not
Still can't keep up with G37

Heard totaly new TL is coming on 2013 tho

3G TL's exterior appearance + lower curb weight + 4G TL's new electronic stuff + SH-AWD = perfect TL

It was kinda like hooking up with a ugly chick when you're intoxicated. It's fun, but you really don't want anyone else to know you enjoyed it.

I've had 2 4G loaners. One was a SH-AWD. Car was awesome. Handled great, lots of speed. I was very happy with the performance of the car. The interior for me was also a nice upgrade including the Bluetooth and the quality of the leather. Of course....it still looked like crap.

Overall, I was very happy with it, but was happier to get my car back.

In 2010 I had a 4G loaner and was embarrassed to drive it - LOL! I do think the new look of the front grille is an improvement, but the back of the car still looks like a Camry to me. I hope there are big changes in the 5G because I'm going to be shopping for a new car end of next year and I'd really like to buy another TL.

4g interior looks good, I want the 3.7 engine and SH-AWD minus that ugly exterior.

^looks like in order for the 4G to look good...you have to dump a lot of money into it for mods.

Like the new 2012 ones, was considering to trade in 3G TL for new 4G. Decided against it, definitely not now...spent about 1500 in mods the last 2 months.

Pretty much. Any 4g TL that I have ever liked has had a ton of money put into it.

Man, you guys are brutal...

4G has grown on me (Still dislike beak). I feel like I'm driving cars of two different classes when I switch up between the two. 4G FEELS alot bigger to me. I have more of a heavy foot on the 3G than 4G.

Acura definitely made the 4Gs less ugly with the refresh, but IMO the 4Gs are still way too big. The 3G is the perfect size IMO, good amounts of space inside, but still a tidy package on the outside that is easy to park and maneuver. The 4Gs just look huge.

^ Truf. With the size increases across the board on almost all vehicles, I'd be tempted to go with the TSX eventually. Problem is, no 6MT with the V6 on the current gen TSX.

After the TL, I don't think I could ever go back to a 4-banger. Even with FI. The smoothness, sound and powerband of a V6 has me hooked.

Twice I've had a 4g tl loaner(both times they didn't have the sh-awd ) when I took my car in. Honestly, I think my tsx had a much better feel, both inside and out to it. Something just felt off when I was driving it. Though I do wish my v6 tsx had the same exhaust as the tl, sounds much sexier in the tl.

I have hated the look since the 4g came out, the main reason I didnt get one. However, when modded well they can look pretty cool.

This is the correct way to describe the refresh, and that's not a good thing to have to say.

I also drove a 2012 4th gen TL earlier this week for a couple of days and there was no comparison to my Type-S. Granted the 4th gen was only a base, but I doubt the interior of the SH-AWD version would be much different inside. Huge difference in the steering, and the body sheet metal itself just seemed more Accord/Camry-like and not something you'd find on a luxury car at that price range. Not slamming the 4th gen or anything as it was a decent car, but really made me appreciate what the 3rd gen offers.
