So i've been pushing my TL pretty hard like a retard and I got a bit carried away this time. I heard my exhaust go crazy (most likely backfire). You think that that is something going on? Also I went 130 for like a whole minute (est 2 miles at that speed), is that ok? The TL i'm rocking is an 06 automatic

yes i'm quoting myself, to the OP, the backfire is caused by an exhaust leak or by crud burning up inside the exhaust. For going 130, thats a big no-no. I don't care where you were unless it was on a track (which I doubt), that's very irresponsible, you are a danger to others at such high speeds, including yourself. Damaging something, yes, you could have caused excessive damage to your tires at that speed if they were not inflated to about 40 PSI. As well you might have killed all your oil life, so check that and make sure there are no fine metal particles in the oil. BTW, my average speed is always 65 MPH.....

Thank you for the translation AJ...Sometimes I feel older by the day!

To the OP...next time you do 130 mph, do it at Bonneville so we don't have to read about you or your victims in the newspaper

sounds like it clipped the rev limiter or top speed limiter
Those cut out the ignition on and off to alert you and force a reduction

badah bdah bada goes the engine until you upshift, or reduce rpm below redline by lifting off the gas pedal

The cat convertors dont like big heat- 20 minutes of 130 will cook it for good,
watch for rotten egg smell- thats a big warning its been ~overcooked~
think 3 minute eggs!

Hi speed drivers should increase air pressure in tires for safety- 32 is way too low

I don't do 130 (maybe once for a split second) but I don't beat on this car at all and everytime I go 3/4 or wot to merge or pass going 65-70 max I get that nasty smell. It's been like that since day one and I didn't go wot until after the 600 mile mark for break in..........

^ Apparently lack of thought is not your only limitation, but I do highly recommend a trip to an optometrist.

the egg smell is the cat convertor- it doesnt like to be overheated- its already operating above 1200 degrees F in normal speed driving!

You may even get a check engine light or have the engine go into Limp Mode if it thinks you have plugged the cat-
Literally -- the honeycomb bee-hive like screen, with the precious metals in it, can be cooked into a clogged mass... instead of a reactive chamber thru which exhaust flows~

If it plugs up it can cause excess engine/exhaust backpressure- thats bad
Be aware!! - read the owner book on limitations and results-
and always remember that acura can download all sorts of info from your cars computer about your driving~

Or that rotten egg smell can be from too much sulfer in the gas you use. I will stand up in defence of the OP by saying that majority of the time speed difference between cars on the road are what cause more problems than speeding alone. Someone driving too slow for conditions is just as dangerous as someone who is driving too fast for conditions. So hopefully if you were going that fast you were doing so in a remote area with no one around.

Don't let anyone here fool ya either. Anyone who has gone faster than the posted speed limit is just as guilty as you. So pot meet kettle...kettle say hello to pot. Some of these posts reek of self righteousness as if they have never broken any law. Next thing they'll be telling you the way you wipe your ass is wrong and how to raise your kids.

I think I just lost several IQ points reading the first post. That's 30 seconds of my life I can never get back. But it makes for fun reading, every time I see somthing posted under that username, I know it's going to be interesting, kind of like a train wreck I don't want to look but I can't help it.
