45000 maint job? tranny fluid
Anyone else hear about this NEW maint. requirement? 45,000 - coolant flush, plus a few others for 200 bones? BTW, one dealership tells me 27,000 and another tells me 15,000...which one is it?! for a tranny fluid change that is..
THANKS!!!

The dealers have these services, but they are not Acura maintenance requirements for the 3G TL, nor are they even recommendations.
As it says in our manuals, we should go by the 3G TL's Maintenance Minder.
And the numeric maintenance minder "3" code is transmission fluid; the "5" code is coolant replacement.

I am gen2 and the book has regular and severe service maitenance times/miles
If you have even 1 of the hardships- you should use the heavy schedule and change trans
IIf you are 6MT I would change the fluid and see if they have worked out anything on the noise
Coolant 5 years max
Brake fluid they say every 3 years- Most here say every year after they got rust in the calipers and had to replace them
Most things you can do at home with a set of ramps and basic tools

yeah, LOL! just go with your maintance reminder so at 50k with orignal trans fluid which is spanked it will tell you "It's time to flush out your trans before it blows"
Real world a real techincian would look at the trans fluid condition at 15k and probably tell you to do a drain and fill. My brother has an 04 automatic with just about 28k and Ive done 3 trans services to it so far. Everytime the fluid comes out, its pretty much spanked. The 2nd gens were going through transmissions left and right, imports aren't something that I would skip any type of maintance on. You should have had your trans fluid changed already. 25-30K is usually the latest.

^ you guys are making me nervous, I have 34K on the TL and haven't touched the transmission fluid. What did you guys do, 3X fill and drain or just single fill and drain?

I'm assuming he drain and filled it 3 times so far between howmany ever miles.
Honda A/Ts are actually known for problems. I changed my tranny fluid on my v6 accord at 30k miles. Im going to do it again at 55k miles/oil change.
I highly recommend doing this. Especially at the dealer so you can have a record of it.
