3rd Brake Light Replacement - 05 TL

Anyone know the correct way to pop the cover off of the third brake light for an 05 TL? It sits at the top of the back window and there is plastic around where you would access the light assembly. I am assuming clips but where, how many, best way to remove?

Thanks!
Steve

Welcome to the forums. The pictures don't tell much, though, but you just pull straight down and the cover will pop off.

You should always check out THE 3G GARAGE first.

Just out of curiosity, Did all your LEDs on your 3rd brake light go out or just a few? Why are you looking to replace?

Also to note...make sure it isn't the brake light switch that is failing before you go replacing the actual light assembly.

all housing covers operate the same way; with clips. either you push or pull to unlock the clip.

Last question for you helpful people!

What is holding the housing in place, just those two tabs when you pull straight down and push straight up? what about that rubber lining at the end facing the rear of the car. The upholstery is coming off and I am wanting to replace the lining, just don't know how difficult it would be. (I am wanting to replace the entire headliner but i cant even remove the vanity lights that come on when flipping the visor. It literally will not come off with all the force i put in to it.)

Any advice will be greatly appreciated!
