3M or Oracal carbon fiber??

3M or Oracal carbon fiber??

Hi, I'm new to the forums and I just recently bought a ASM TL-S. I am planning to vinyl my roof with gloss carbon or gloss black. I just wanted to compare the two brands 3M 1080 or Oracal. I've read about 3M everywhere on the forums but not much on Oracal (975?). Which one is better? Which one is more glossy? Or the pros and cons of each. Pictures would be highly appreciated. thanks in advance! and i fell love with my TL-S the first time I sat in it.

I'd go with 3M. I have it on my hood and grill and its pretty durable.

go 3M...but note that there are two kinds of 3M cf black vinyl: Di-Noc and 1080 Scotchprint. the Di-Noc has a matte finish and the Scotchprint has a glossy finish. just fyi...

I hear the new 3M 1080 (high reso? lol) is actually made for automotive purposes and Di-Noc was made for architectural purposes.

I'd go with 3M 1080 also.

My grill and rear trim is wrapped in Oracal high gloss black vinyl, and it is very durable, and very glossy.

that's correct. it's designed to be more 'contour friendly'. with that said, i've seen pics of entire cars wrapped in Di-Noc so it can certainly be used for automotive purposes; 3M is just stating that the 1080 is better suited for such applications.

thanks for all your fast input! i just got a quote for the vinyls and 3m is around double the price of oracal... does that sound right? is the difference that big? should i still get 3m?
