3G TL Type S Overpriced?
Been looking for a 3G TL Type S and found this however banks are saying the same thing...They'll only lend up to 120% which puts it around $17,590 ish. So it's obviously overpriced but is it worth pursuing?

hard to tell its the rare color combo and its MT, the bank will off via book value and as far as true "value" its up to the buyer, for me its over price but that does not stop anyone out there willing to pay that price.

It looks fucking pristine. The paint and especially the interior. 6 Speed? Check. KBP? Check. Two tone interior? Check. 50k miles? Check. I could see why they put $23997.
Keep in mind that these dealers get these cars from auctions (I bet this one is one). So if they overpaid for it at auction, they naturally have the price set high.
I'm willing to bet they paid $18-20k at auction for this.

Checks all the boxes. Looks in pristine condition. Pricing makes sense, since they paid $19k for it at auction, then probably had to put some $$$ towards getting it detailed and up to showroom snuff.
So, can't fault them for the $24k price. Still, I wouldn't be willing to pay that much for this car. I hate to say it, but the TL-S is not a classic that will appreciate, if only because so many were made.
"Fair market price" is only what one single buyer is willing to pay for something.

How did you find out?
That shouldn't matter. Did you see that interior? The driver side seat has zero crinkles or lines. Really well cared for. But not worth 24k, but as the guy above me said, since it was bought for 19k at auction, they won't sell it for less than $20k.

Original link and link posted by Ghost are working now. It appears to be in great shape. I think $24K is a bit much but as mentioned above - whatever the market will bear and what people will pay...... It's rarity will help.

The car is worth that, IMO, but in reality it's overpriced. What they're asking for is more of an enthusiast/collectors price, but the car is not on that level yet, let alone is it really even that rare? Say you buy it, daily it, and then God forbid wreck it. What will insurance give you? MAYBE HALF. If you indeed go this route, make sure to get GAP insurance.

Car is way overpriced, $24k no way, I would not even pay $15k for it. I just picked up a 2008 6sp KBP clean tittle for a fraction of that, granted my miles and condition wasn't nearly as mint, but if I'm going to drop $24k on a car, it will not be a on a 2007-2008 Acura TL-S. I'll admit, it is a pretty nice car, as rare as it is, its not like it a classic car that will go up in value. But there will always be someone that has the cash and is willing to fork up the cash. To each their own, if you got the cash, or willing to finance a almost 10 yr old car for a super premium price and it is your "DREAM" car, go for it.

I find this thread kind of funny; back in April I found a 2006 TL 6MT with Nav, done up in Redondo Red Pearl with a Parchment interior with only 20,300 miles on the clock. The car was virtually show room quality and condition (except for dry rot on the tires and probably on the timing belt as well). The asking price? Glad you asked; $14,000.
I posted that here and folks told me only a sucker would pay that much for that car; the seller got his asking price.

i've seen multiple stories lately of people buying stick shift type s cars for 14k -16k. so there is still lots of demand for lower mileage cars at that price point but even though this car looks amazing, i doubt they will get over 18k at the most (and i guarantee there are people out there willing to pay that)

While it has the check boxes of the classic unicorn (KBP, 6MT, 2008) it's not THAT low of a mileage and it has to guarantee completely clean carfax with no issues at all to justify anything near that asking price.
It's 2017, the people who are willing to pay new car price for a 3G TL is quite a bit small.
But then again they say a sucker is born every minute so....

I worked on this vehicle when I was at Park Ave Acura. Super rare combination (color, type-s, 6mt ect). I remember the vehicle exactly as shown, it was super clean and rarely driven. My opinion doesn't matter, but as these vehicle age, finding a super clean, well kept 3GTL is very hard. These don't come around often and if they do, they usually get bought by an enthusiast that wants the "Unicorn" in pristine condition with low miles. You can try to find another one, but I HIGHLY doubt it will be in the same condition. Food for thought, even though the price is high, you can negotiate the price and you get peace of mind that it's not a rolling dumpster that needs a ton of work. In the long run, the extra money spent on a rare vehicle in this condition is worth it.

Agree with many opinions in here that it is highly overpriced. But also agree that it is rare combo and condition. To ME no 3G TL is worth that amount anymore, but MAYBE to the right person. Someone who is going to take care of the car in a garage. Use it only on nice occasions, keep the mileage low. Or try to preserve for future generations as a showroom condition car. Even this car would need some things.
I honestly expected it to have like 20,000-30,000 miles at that obscene price. For someone like me who would use the car as a daily, have it stay outdoors all/night, probably get behind on a maintenance item here or there; that car is highly overpriced. I think the dealer overpaid and that is not my problem. I say it is worth $20,000 MAX.

^^^^ FIY that TL-S also from this forum from a member know as "James". The car started life as Honda/Acura training car then Honda sold to a employee which locate in CT then he move to somewhere in GA or SC and sell it to James at listed $24k with 5000 miles back in 2013. James bought the car and change the steering wheel along with new tires and sold the car for $25K around 2014-2015 with 15k miles on the clock.

^^^ Actually I would not buy that car and here is several reason behind it.
1. Sure the car is in mint if not almost new condition.
2. TL-S MT sure are rare in certain combo but in no way they have the same used car market as 1st gen NSX.
3. You really can't put alot of miles in the car since you don't want the car to decrease in value.
4. What the point of spending $22-$26K car and let it sit and you really can't enjoy it, remember its a TL and not a Vette or NSX
The owner of the TL above trying to flip car and I saw several time he and the other guy trying to sell the car for $26k in the end no one paying that much for a 11 years old car that they ca't put mileage into it and the tech is out dated.

Reminds me of a posting I saw on AutoTrader in 2014 with a NBP Type S 5AT with Taupe Interior (the ad said it still smells like new) with 6,100 miles or some crazy shit like that, selling for 26k. Anyone find it?

Being in NC, you probably see the same thing I do up here in VA. These are going for way over normal value. I've been looking for a TL for years, but I wasn't willing to pay the prices they were getting. When I found mine, and got the price down to under 5k, I bought immediately.
But the same thing is happening with the Honda twins of these. I also have an 03 accord EX-L V6. It cost me $1000 to get it back from insurance after they totaled it for hail damage. But all they had to do was find one thrashed out car on the internet to determine value......So I'm keeping the accord as a testing car for drivetrain options....I'm almost positive I can build an Odyssey auto trans to survive in our cars. LOL
