3g TL AT slipping and downshifting when hot
I have 160k on the odometer. Fluids fresh. Replaced both pressure sensors a few months ago. I just put in a new neutral safety switch hoping it was bad, no change.. Started yesterday to abruptly downshift and then seemingly go in neutral and rev high. Going from neutral to drive wouldn't change it. No flashing lights and no check engine lights. If I let the car sit for ten minutes or drives smooth like before shifts fine then starts acting up once it gets to temp about two miles down the road. What could cause this? Could an atf temp sensor be faulty without throwing a CEL?
Unfortunately, it sounds like the damage was already done prior to your maintenance. I would start looking into finding a "baya" code transmission off a 06-07 Honda Accord V6 (non hybrid). These transmissions are direct replacement to our OEM trans (I'm just assuming you have an 04-06 TL?) and relatively cheap/available, with the added benefit of being more robust and resistant to damage.
Though ultimately, it's up to you - 160k doesn't sound like much to me for a 3G TL, but depending on the shape of the rest of the car, you have to ask yourself if a few thousand dollars for another transmission + installation labor is worth it. I wouldn't mess around with rebuilding a flawed trans (again, assuming you have an 04-06) but that's just me. If you have an 07-08 your options look slightly different.
