3G TL 5at VS 95 Integra B18c?
So this dude I see around quite often talks alot of shit about how "JDM" his teggy is and always bagging on the TL calling it a "mommy car". We've lined up before from a dig and i put about 1-2 car lengths. I think then, he had a ls/vtec motor with the ls auto tranny and coffee exhaust and i was stock.
even after that beating, now he's talking shit twice as hard talking about how he's going to swap in a JDM b18c with the type r MT tranny that comes with it and maybe headers this time with a coffee can exhaust.
i dont know much about civic/teggy motors, but i looked it up and i read it has about 197 hp from factory. me personally im not worried about it. by then i might have aem v2 and azine stage 3 exhaust. not sure how much of a boost that is, but at least its something.
question is, how would the 3G do against a teggy with a b18c swap? i think it should be a close if anything. maybe some racing gurus can help me out?

And to get in his face just tell him he need's to completey swap engines and tranny's just to keep up lol. hate when people call TL's "mommy cars" anyways u should still beat him and use your sport shift assuming that u already did.

nah, last time i just stomped on it and let the car do the work haha. this time im prolly gonna do 1-2 in D and if it gets to it, ill switch over to SS in 3rd.
but yeah he's all about jdm and he is convinced that a Type-R b18c with headers and exhaust with a 5mt/6m type-r tranny will do me in. hopefully you guys are right though... his car sounds like fucking shit and imma be pissed if i lose to a ricer honda fan boy =[

wow lol def. use the sport shift cause it will keep u out of the 4th gear "slump" longer. which will let you go faster lol. If you read the thread "IHateCars" just posted you can see how it helped him.

I don't know much about the civics/teggys, but i'll share an experience with you. a while back, i took a green teggy from a roll from about 50 with me in 2nd (high). I was fully bolted on at the time, minus the rv6 power package and spacers. Anyways, this fool kept up pretty darn well...in fact, if I recall correctly...I had a difficult time pulling away! We were even for most of my powerband from 2nd to 3rd. I remember beating him by a car length in the end though. I believe it was a type r? Sounds like everyone else's confident that you'll beat him, and you probably will. Just don't talk like that fool does and let your tail lights do all the talking.
Oh and about the 3rd ss thing. There was a thing that IHC posted about a race with another stock 3g tl. SS allows you to push 500 more rpms in 3rd when you hold it in SS versus let the computer do it. It put him ahead a car length (or 2).

yeah i read IHC's thread. he said he left it in D for 1-2 gear then switched over to SS in 3rd. so i think thats what im going to do.
but yeah thanks for the info guys. this guy does more talking than walking so it might be a bit till he actually does the swap but ill post back here whenever it happens. thanks again.

Chapter Leader (Southern Region)
1. A CAI & Stage 3 is not significant in Performance.
2. Your friend is obviously a douche.. you beat him once, never race him again.. because a) you're both young and shouldn't be racing on the street & b) you'll always have bragging rights.
3. If he's willing to do a swap he'll eventually go turbo.. you won't have a chance.
Also, going from a dig you should leave it in SS to get as much out of 1st & 2nd as you can.

All motor
Honestly, if he puts a Type R motor in the Teg (B18c5) and has bolt ons plus the Type R tranny he will beat you. Idk why everyone is saying the opposite. In fact, with the Type R motor in an Integra...it IS a Type R (relatively speaking). A stock Type R would take a 5AT TL, let alone a bolt on R.
If he does in fact do it and isn't running his mouth, you will need more than a CAI to keep up.
If he swaps the B18c1 from the GSR, it will be closer, esp with the Type R trans, which has LSD. Don't sleep on it, but you should edge it out.

Yea, the Type R tranny has a shorter 3rd and much shorter 4th gear as far as I know. Ask him which B18 he is putting in, that will make a big difference. The B18c1 is from the GSR putting out 170hp and the B18c5 is from the Type R putting out 195hp. I don't know if the 'JDM' models put out more power. Remember, the Integras are a good 700-800lbs lighter than the TL. The 155whp (guess) in a 2700lb shell is more like 210 in a 3400lb TL, which is around where an auto puts out.
If it's the c1 and he has only header and exhaust, you should win. If he adds intake and tune it should make for an interesting run. Good luck

You shouldn't waste your time with this fool. He's just trying to bait you, don't fall for it. He can talk shit all he wants, but at the end of the day, you're driving a car that's as quick, if not quicker, than his, with the added benefit of leather heated seats, a decent sound system, and a warranty, three things he definetely doesn't have.
There are tons of people who try to challenge me to a race, and I drive a four-cylinder Accord. Even if it were boosted, I wouldn't waste my time. It's not worth it. What does it prove? One car is faster than the other. Great. Now what?

^^^ good point
haha but yeah he's putting in the JDM type-r b18c in it. apparently he got a good deal on it with the type-r tranny that comes with it. but yeah. im interested on seeing how it goes now. gonna tell him to hurry up with the swap the next time i see him lol
im thinking my car might get a bit of a jump on his cuz i should have a better torque ratio.

Depends on how he launches, he might get the jump. His car is much lighter, and judging by your avatar your wheels/tires are heavier. You'll probably catch up and pass him pretty quickly though.
How good of a driver is he?

i raced my friends GSR a while back. i had an 04 6MT.
i was stock and he was fully bolted
we went from a dig and i put 2-3 cars on him but were even in 1st and 2nd.
i think hes gonna get you off the line and youre not gonna catch him.

i agree. IF its a bolt-on true R engine. Like I stated in my earlier post- they are really quick-to 40 mph he got me- once he saw how I was pulling through 60, he shut down.

This race should be interesting. For example, the 06-08 Honda civic SI runs with the TL (04 6SP specking) and have a close run. The Type-R (B18C5) beats those civic's by car lengths, so that will be a maybe run. I also think, with that engine with boltons will beat you but i can also be wrong, because it all depends on take off. Be safe and don't kill yourselves, lmao.

Depends on how good of a driver he is. Type-R engines are rev happy engines that put out 197hp all motor. Throw that engine in a civic and its a quick car. Type-R's come with cloth interior and no sunroof to reduce weight, since his teg isnt a type-r it will be abit slower than an actual one.
Ive raced a legit type R and some with swaps that have cams intake n headers. I beat the legit type-r on the highway really bad....4-5 cars and then we went from a dig and I pulled 3 cars on him with a passenger in both races. Then I raced my buddys teg from a 1st gear roll with a gsr swap with some mods and a tune and he was hanging right beside me. I maybe gained half a car on him. He dyno'd at 187whp/141wtq and I dyno'd at 225whp/194wtq. Its the power to weight ratio that kills us TL drivers. Hope this helps!

if the dude in the type-r launches it properly hes gonna get a nice lead. itll be hard to catch him. if hes bolted, the type-r is gnna win.

The only BMWs that "suck" IMO are the 23s and 25s, just nowhere near enough power.

You have a much better chance from a dig since the B18's, (like all Honda I4's), have no low end power. They really show their power from a roll on the highway.

slap a B18C5 in a hatch you can say goodnight to almost any competitors, the teg weighs about 2600lbs and the B18C has 145hp to the wheel thats a recipe for speed
