And when in doubt, Miles Davis and John Coltrane.

The Steve Kuhn Trio is awesomeness too.

I did not spend 2/3rds of my youth on a piano and getting beaten for not practicing and winning enough at competitions to not spew my 2 cents on the state of music.

Jazz and Classical...the two pillars of music are not getting enough recognition in today's "show-your-boobs and dance-like-an-idiot to 1-chord and calling it music".

I saw her live and I'll say this: Her piano skills match her grace and beauty.

Diana Krall is more main-stream but her keyboarding skills are meh compared to Eliane Elias...

I miss playing Jazz so badly.. I need to go find some local jazz group and start again. in modern contemporary music , i'll settle for funk because of their crazy bass licks (a la Bruno Mars)

NP!

And if anyone razzes you for listening to jazz, let me know and I'll slap that nimrod around with a few of my robots. A nice diecasty Mazinger Z across the forehead to any such barbarian will set them straight, IMO.

So does Yuja Wang for Classical. Except, here's the rub...they don't play 1-chorded junk.

And their technique and skill would be perfectly fine alone...they could all look like Trump's @$$ flap and I'd still pay to listen to them. However, they know that the world is stupid and shallow and so, they have to cater to some of the oafs who need the "sex".

Maj: FWIW, I'm a bit like a watch snob for music. Just bear with me. I have a general disdain for what's on radio and mainstream these days but, music is music. Just like food.

Listen to what you like. But, if you are going to give thoiboi a hard time for Buble, get ready to hear my rhetoric. And IMO, I can back it up because I can out-play most people on this side of the hemisphere.

I'll stop at my mentor cuz that just reveals a bit TOO much about me on here...but, I'll say this: My piano mentor's education was at Eastman School of Music under Cecile Genhart. Genhart, an amazing musician and scholar in her own right, studied under Ferruccio Busoni, the great pianist and composer at the turn of the 20th century...Busoni studied with Carl Reinecke, who is also a great pianist and composer. Reinecke studied from Robert Schumann, Felix Mendelssohn, and Franz Liszt...I could end there, but if we keep going further, Liszt received training from Carl Czerny who learned from Mr. Ludwig van Beethoven.

How many can say their piano lineage comes from that? Yeah, I didn't think so. I whipped gwai-lo kids for enjoyment as a kid on the piano...

Micheal Bubble never sang "He'll fuck-start your burp hole, jet in burgundy pleather, Whoa" though... So, edge to modern hip-hop/rap.
