I've never been cool.
Man, I totally forgot about Call of Ktulu. Heck, I pretty much forgot about Ride the Lightning until just now.
I think I erased Metallica from my brain after the black "Metallica" album and Napster debacle.

Hey Yummy! Why does it always seem like your morning corresponds with my afternoon?
I though you were in the right hand side of Canada... Are you on the left hand side?

They do, however, rust if not properly maintained.

There are some fine places in Canada to visit: Vancouver (or Little China, I like to call it), Bamphff, Jasper, Calgary, Toronnah, Moanrayal...

The food in Little China is probably better though. If I had to pick, I would live in Seeyahtoe instead. Next time, make the drive...Vancouver is worth a visit. Go to Richmond if you need a good head-shake.

How close are you to Banff and such Taco? I wouldn't mind swinging by and checking out the kids in the well

Edmonton is 4.5-5 hours away from Banff, depending on how fast you drive. The highway between Edmonton and Calgary is generally treated as a race track- it's not unusual to see cars hauling ass at 140km/h (87.5mph). But beware of cops
jasper is closer, at just under 4 hours away.
being to both towns a billion times, it really depends what you're looking for. Banff is SUPER touristy, with tons of people coming over from Asia and Europe. I find it annoying on how crowded it can get. Jasper is way more for people looking to do outdoor activities and is much less commercial and less busy. Both are very nice in their own regard though. Expect to pay an arm and a leg to stay in both places. Everything has the tourism pricing attached to it.
I I must admit though, as far as driving goes, I much prefer driving to Jasper. I find the drive to Banff ungodly boring. Specifically between Edmonton and Calgary. It's 3-3.5 hours of absolutely nothing but flat fields. Once you hit Calgary, it's only about an hour from there and the drive gets much nicer.

But, on the right summer day, you do have a chance to see some ubercars driving that freeway...albeit, usually from Edmonton cuz that idiot city has zero exotic car dealerships that can service Ferraris and Lamborghinis.
Once you hit Calgary (IMO, the true capital of Alberta), the route into Bamff is awesome. Both National Parks are worth it and depending on the time of year going, more affordable. Of course, if one chooses the Fairmont hotels in either park or the Rimrock, well, get ready to pay outta your @$$. Mind you, I stayed at JPL for about $150 back in November when I was there for a mini-conference. The town is charming but absolutely DEAD. Bamff even in November is at least livelier...I prefer the latter. Even if all the Japanese and Chinese tourists gives the town a...Asian flavour.

Driving the road up Mount Norquay at near WOT is worth it...getting the riot act read to you by the wife who wants to murder you afterwards...not so much.

Worth it. IMO, going to Vancouver is pretty much an "eating" trip -- esp. if you love food. There are some marvelous marvelous restaurants there. Japanese izakayas as an example, are just amazing. Even the Chinese food...
If you want gwai-ro food, the stuff in Vancouver is also kick@$$. I'd say it's one of the top "eating" cities in North America. Even better than Torronah or Chicago. San Francisco and NYC probably have the top claims...but, you could argue Vancouver matches SF.
