I agreed to go to my cousins retirement party in August and I'm going to take pictures for her. It's in a hall so I'm going to need a flash. Any recommendations on one?

Also, will probably end up buying a new lens, since I only have the 18-55 kit lens and my 50mm. I was thinking maybe a 70-200.
My 430EXII works well enough. 70-200?!?! BALLLAAAA

for a all purpose all around lens, I'd get/rent a 24-70mm... love that fucking lens.

I was looking into the 24-70 too after doing some research.

My buddy told me a 50mm and a 24-70 is good for what I'm trying to accomplish.

Shiiit I didn't realize it was that much. Ok, well maybe I'll try and borrow/rent one. It's only for 1 day.

I kind of want one for Hawaii too, but I've been spending too much and need to stop.

yeah, if you don't want to buy because it's a pretty penny, rent for a few days. I think you'll fall in love with it. I have.. You have a crop sensor body so a 70-200 is a bit excessive for a party.

I want to upgrade my body eventually. (The camera not myself)

When I got my camera 4ish years ago, I just got a basic D3100...

if i could only afford one lens i'd take the 24-70 in a heart beat. Right now , my walk around lens is the 17-55 and i love that thing too, but it ain't no 24-70.. the bokeh, the build quality, the 2.8 fixed...

I'm so used to Nikon, plus everyone around me has Nikon so I can swap lenses etc.

I'm a little nervous doing this party. Because there are tons of "big wig" people that will be there and my cousin said they would probably use me in the future for other parties, or family portraits. I always shoot outdoors, never indoors so this is going to be new to me.

Yea. I'm going to buy the monopod on Amazon..... (I was researching those earlier)

I'm looking into flashes too.... Seeing which one is good to go with. Waiting for our family photographer to text me back. Because he may just let me borrow all his stuff.

When you get the stuff from him, make sure to engrave your name on every piece. When he asks for it all back, just give him the face
