I always hear the same thing about garage door springs, but, I've been in a garage three times when a spring has snapped and all it does is spins around like crazy, around the metal bar going down the middle of it. Nothing ever came off, nothing went flying, nothing was damaged, no one was hurt or killed.

I dunno man. I mean, there might be cases, but I imagine they are extremely rare.

The spring snapped if my parents garage after 10ish years and I was there when it happened. Then pops replaced the spring himself, because cheap immigrant parent, and he over tightened it. It lasted about 3 weeks and then snapped. Replaced it AGAIN. Lasted 5-6 weeks. Finally called a company to replace it and it's been good since. Every time it happened, I was there. I can't even imagine what goes flying. I've never seen a spring that doesn't have a rod going through it for a garage also. Maybe it's just a piece that breaks off?

Those are the much safer ones...
there are older doors that had the spring mechanisms off to the side which could likely be a lot more dangers and probably harder to balance tension on.

Hmmm, yes, you're right. But every time I heard about spring safety on garage doors, I think they were always the ones that you need to tighten up by winding it. Either way, probably safer to never be near it when it breaks, regardless if anything flies off or not. Maybe Yummy and I just got lucky

Retention spring is always under tension. It can wear out, but usually when it does, there's still tremendous force. It's more dangerous uncoupling it incorrectly. When it snaps, there's a chance that part of the spring can break off near the snap, and it'll travel outwards equal to force that point failed at.

Actually, this time I did not. Got all full on enchiladas before going to little Scandinavia. Tried to go to a Polish restaurant for dinner but they were closed.

Multicultural day.

Hey, if you do go to that Polish restaurant anytime soon, take a picture of the menu and post it up. I'm curious to know what they serve down south.

Oh we're still here.. it took me a few weeks to crack the wifi password.. I should have known it was just penis123

Miss anything good? I was remote for holidays so spent that time with family and fixing up things around the parents' house, installing new closets for them, unpacking all the stuff from storage, and moving a majority of my stuff back in so no time for AZ unfortunately

Check it out:
Polonia Restaurant is Houston's only restaurant that serves Authentic Polish Cuisine.

I think they're the only Polish place in the Houston area. It's the real deal, buncha grumpy Poles getting lit and eating potatoes. Polish beer that you can't really get anywhere in town except the restaurant; and a little market next door to take home frozen pierogis and stuff.

And of course, it's located in the middle of a ghetto.

Well, not really. But it makes the story better.
