I heard from my college job of stories of douchebag college students that used to make an "Ethernet killer" that is wire up an Cat 5 cable to power and plug it in the wall. Fry the expensive Cisco switch on the other end ... assholes...

I think those tiny ethernet conductors pop as soon as it hits the port..
I saw some article about a USB Kill. Basically a thumb driver with overdrive circuit with a series of coincell batteries to send a kill shot once plugged in. Fucking stupid thing is it only burns the board. Helloo... da HD.. gasoline is cheaper.

Yeah. I never make good decisions at the I-buffet. Too much good. Then the meat sweats start and the office starts to smell like curry and spices.

I lived in Stockton and Salinas for a few years. Stockton isn't that bad.. it's gotten worse though.. moreso for Salinas.
A good friend of the family was an ER doctor in Stockton. He passed away some time back (didn't let anyone know he had a bad ticker), but was one of the coolest guys I knew. He had a 911 and sold it for a brand new E55 AMG back in 2000.. shiett that was the fucking sweetest ride ever (I'd still own it to this day). The start of my black tie axe murderer love affair.
Anyways, I shadowed him a couple of times in the ER.. fucking crazy shit, don't know how he kept so clean and cool in there. Another family member shadowed him a month earlier and the first guy they see is this gangster who blew off his BBC by accidentally discharging the pistol in his waistband. She was like.. I'm outta here. thanks no thx bye.
He said one night a car rolled up to the ER.. Asian banger gets out and is yelling for someone to help him. The car got sprayed by a automatic MAC-10/11. Homeboy was slumped over, blood everywhere, brains hanging out. Said the dude was gone, homeboy just didn't know it. Shiett.. He used to have a harley.. LP was 2KDeuce.. didn't realize deuces was known local gang moniker. He white doe.. soo..
Anyways.. good memories.

My father was a federal leo.. I've seen some shit along the way.
Funny thing is one of the reasons I chose engineering over medicine is our family friend said if he'd have to do it over again, he'd choose engineering.
He once saved a girl after she was beaten to a pulp and run over several times by her then boyfriend. Hospital administrator said let her go because she was effed up and no insurance. But he morally couldn't.. hospital foot over a million dollar bill because he ended up saving her. She recovered pretty well too. Guy was sentenced to 15 years aggravated assault, plead down from attempted murder.
Anyways, he formed a close bond with the family and tried to mentor her to make good life choices. Guy got out in 10 years, she went back to him. I'm not sure how the story ended, if at all, but I doubt it was good That case almost ruined his career. Blacklisted from a lot of good hospitals, but righteous like a mfr. I never asked if he'd do it again, having gone through all of that and seen the eventual outcome, but I'd like to think he would.

i have the exact same scenario that happened to me...
except it was to be a veterinarian...and then became a marketing major.
did the shadow thing...popping an anal polyp back in with my finger didn't bug me...helping hold down some greyhounds while they put them down...
not for me...
tried to switch to engineering after taking 4 years to get my AA...they said I'd be starting all over...fk it, business it is...
okay some differences in our stories...

Primary reason I didn't go into LE was the hours my father worked were crazy. I wouldn't see him for 3-4 days sometimes. He'd sleep at his office during investigations if at all. That was pretty normal. I didn't learn til later that it shouldn't be normal. Plus many of his best friends were always into some shit. When we were in Salinas they had a few shootouts and wild chases. It was different back in the day.
One of his best friends was a bonafide cowboy. He shot at a suspect vehicle during a high speed chase. He said he was aiming at the tires.. which he hit.. but still. They were chasing a car in an unmarked cruiser only to get blocked off at gunpoint by 4 CHP officers (almost got shot up). I guess they weren't listening in to cross-agency bands.
After moving away from Salinas, we came back for a funeral for a couple of slain officers. Drug deal went south. They were essentially ambushed and killed for money (bandits had no intent of actually selling drugs). Anyways, one of the officers barely got out alive. He hopped a fence getting away and was shot through the leg (groin).. fucking crazy.
We went to his bedside at the hospital a couple days after. He was in otherwise good spirits, happy to be alive, but remorseful for losing his fellow agents. I was just listening to all the LE chit chat and couldn't stop from staring at his blood drain that ran up his leg (penis). It was a lot for me to process. I don't think I said fuck this shit through any of that or felt more danger for the field my father was in, it was normal itself, but reflecting back on it now.. fuck that shit. They all got in crazy fights too.. knives.. even needles from H users that were HIV+. Shiett..
They once captured a guy who they had no history of. One of the young agents was being nice because the guy was nice, and put him in front seat of cruiser not handcuffed. My father chewed him out, said put handcuffs on him and put him in the back. Guy ended up being a wanted serial killer (gang killings, over 10 murders) from Mexico. He had two pistols and a rifle in his truck when they arrested him. Eye opener for young agent.
Shiett.. lots of stories. Lots of guys on that list gone, lots of guys on that list who might be in jail if they phone cameras and internet back then. A few of them made the paper at least once a year. Sometimes some controversial shit..
When we moved from Cali, pops worked Asian organized crime with joint agency Vancity PD and RCMP in Vancouver. That shit was on another level. Lead officer of the Van City AOC unit woke up to car bomb wired up a year in. Lead officer saw a dangling wire coming from the front fender.. shiett. Pops best friend was top cop there. He's even published in a few books. His grandfather was actually the head of a crime family back in HK many years back.
Top cop ese would go drinking in bars with some of these nefarious snakeheads that he had posted up on a wall at work. They knew the deal though. Shiett.. that's another story all together. Breh.. I have stories for days. I'm just a witness to this shit tho.. but still.
