I hate hate hate peeler bars. I dunno how it is down south, but here, you go through a metal detector, get your driver's license scanned and a photo taken of it, and you get the pat down at the door when you come in. It's like entering a prison.

It was cool when I was 18. By 20 I was like "meh". Some of the weirdest, strangest people in there. Plus, plenty of motorcycle gang members. My favorite!

we kept our wedding small too. Our budget was 10k but that proved difficult to do. I think we spent 13k by the end of it. We did A LOT of work ourselves though. As soon as someone finds out you're having a wedding, prices immediately double. Only had 60 guests- nice and intimate, close friends and family only. We had an awesome venue through the Polish society here in town (always find hook ups!!). Got the place for a steal of a price.

I spent a little over 5k for the ring. Nothing crazy, but it'll last a life time. I never went looking at rings with Wifey- I think that ruins the surprise also. But I did some inconspicuous digging around, asking her bff to do some digging for me, etc. She never saw it coming!

I worked with a guy during a summer job many moons ago who got called out to one of the clubs here in town- their toilets kept backing up or something rather. He put a snake cam down to see what the issue was- the main line was JAMMED with used rubbers. I would have barfed if I had to pull that camera back out.

A friend of mine also did the deed with one of dancers in the back of another club. He didn't pay- she just went up to him and said "you're cute, come with me". I imagine that happens a lot less though, lol.

Not me, but I tagged along to a friend of a friend's "bachelor party" at a paintball field.

Went to Vegas and strip club for one of my boys' bachelor party and wasn't really a fan, also not a fan of getting shit faced in general so probably no strip club and Vegas for me when the time comes. Just hang with my boys, bike ride, car cruise, would be fine...

When you're shitfaced enough you don't realize you're shitfaced though so it's all good.

 

The whole peeler club and getting shit faced is very cliche these days. Less and less guys are doing it. I didn't do it- well, not the peeler club Just do a fun trip somewhere not too far and not too expensive, or just have a fun day in general. For my friend's stag, we took him paint balling for the day. Made him wear a dress too

Ended the night back at his place with a keg and a poker table. Ended up being a really solid night.

 

And a liquid poop the next day.


Seriously though I feel for people who turn 40 and say "it's not like it used to be, can't party all night".

I remember being a young bunny, 18, go to bed at 6 wake up at 7:30 and go to work. Zombie sure, but I could still stand. Nowadays I drink too much I throw up and I feel like shit for the whole day after and I'm just 27...

 

My bachelor party did not involve peelers. Me and my closest buddies went to Vancouver...ate and drank until our faces turned purple...cycled around the city for a day and that was it.

Was a great weekend.

Like, there is a place and context for going to the peelers, I think. But, generally speaking, none of my best buddies really care TOO much about going to them unless the city we're at, it's kinda one of the features...like Montreal, or Vegas.

So, yeah...as part of our itinerary, we'll make a stop at one or two joints just to have a good time. But, otherwise, meh...been to my share of bachelor parties and frankly, I can only call a small couple where it featured the strippers.

The most recent one we went to involved night-time paintball where we were given night-vision goggles...before that, we went carting. Wrapped up the evening by going to a local watering hole for drinks.
