We have a lot of expensive shit coming up in the next 12 months and we want to limit the damage to savings as much as possible. I really don't want to sell, but otherwise we will be living on a shoe string budget for the next 2 years otherwise, because I'm a cheap cunt. Wifey is starting a small side business, we got a shit ton of landscaping to do, including a fence and deck, I owe her a nice big vacation (I've been putting it off for 4 years now because something always comes up), gotta do some upkeep work on one of the rentals, etc, etc.
Wifey said if I agree to sell the Miata now, I can buy a nicer fun car in 2 years. Problem is, the only other car I'd want is a 1G NSX, and in 2 years I'd likely have to pull a second mortgage to buy one. So that's not happening. Don't know what else really interests me at the moment. I also want to avoid car payments at all costs. Because I'm a cheap cunt.

The real problem is my cheapness. I haven't been forced to sell the car, but it seems like a logical decision. Plus, if I had kids, I wouldn't have any of this shit now
I guess I've always been concerned with getting myself nicely established and secured for the future. It sucks, but it's always on my mind. I feel we are getting close to that goal. Suffer now, enjoy later. As long as later isn't too far out. 5 year plan is coming to a close once the house is done this summer. After that, a new plan, with new goals and finally enjoying life a little more. Or at least, here's to hoping

Well, I wasn't exactly joking but I recall you going on about how having kids isn't for you because exhibit a, b and then c...IIRC part of it was toys and travel and then you just said you have to give up your toy and you've been promising to travel for 4 years.

just wait until braces, first cars, college, family vacations, you name it, come up. Oh, you can still do it all. But don't kid yourself if you think your kids won't cost you 100k each by the time they reach 25.Wifey has wanted to travel since day 1, but I always said no. No no no. Establish first. Enjoy second. Establish period is coming to an end. Selling miata now means enjoying starts this summer. If I keep it, it means waiting 2 more years.
And don't get me wrong, I know there are many positives to having kids. Many indeed. But what is a positive for one person, is not necessarily the same for me. Hey, I know I'm fucked up with my logic. No one ever disagreed with that
