Just looked up the stats- Canada had 131 homicides related to guns in all of 2013.
"According to 2013 homicide figures released by Statistics Canada, police services reported 505 homicides.... Shootings accounted for 27% of all homicides in Canada and stabbings accounted for 40%"
So I have about a 0.0000039% chance of being killed by a gun, and seeing as I'm not affiliated with any crime syndicates! I'm guessing you slash that value even lower. I'm willing to take those chances
Marge, it's actually Manitoba, NWT, Nunavut and Saskatchewan that have higher overall homicide rates than Alberta. Alberta has 2.04/100,000 homicides. BC has 1.66/100,000. Crazy.

Honestly, being USAer and all? Don't give a f*ck about guns?
Overrated.
I'd live in Texas and cheerfully care less about owning a pew-pew thing.

And no, I didn't move to Canadark because of the guns.

I moved for the oppressive taxes, socialism, and year-round winters. Honest.

I've got family throughout Europe who'd kill to be able to live here. You think taxes are bad here? You haven't seen anything.
We're capitalist/democratic enough to be able to do whatever the hell we want with our lives, and we're socialist enough to look after our own, who struggle.

And let's be clear, my personal preference on firearms is just mine. I know a number of you collect them and enjoy them...and honestly, all the power to you.
Just like I could never convince any of you to spend thousands on toy robots, you can't convince me to buy a gun or see the value in having one.

Don't get caught slipping.. with your expensive tastes in watches and clothes, you make yourself a target whether you realize it or not. Not saying get a gun, but with or without, there are wolves out there. Don't get caught with the tbone in your pocket. You see that fuck ninja jump kick that lady while she was carrying her newborn strapped to her? Just to steal her phone, he could have killed that kid.

What, really? Were you on vacation in Canadark or something? And they're bang bangs, not pew pews. Pew pews are in the future... In a galaxy far, far away...

It was a Motorola flip phone from 2002, wasn't it?

There's the whole Quebecer attitude again. People complain so much about this country, yet refuse to move or find a place that is "better" to live in. Seriously, if you think it's that bad, gtfo. Show some pride for your country. And I don't mean that by bashing others, but rather appreciate what you have. And if you don't, move along.

There's better doing European countries. Sweden for example is a lovely place.

It's a complicated and multi-threaded topic but ultimately, no matter how you slice it, I don't see having a gun on me would alleviate most situations. As for the other ones where a firearm is warranted...well, the odds of those are as likely as me winning the lottery?
That's just my two cents.

I'd be outta here if it wasn't for my family not wanting to move out. Don't get me wrong, Canada is a really nice country, but there's a lot of things that leave to be desired. It's not the amount of taxes that annoy me, it's where they go, or should I say disappear.

Plus, I don't think their climate is any much better than ours, lol.

Marge, do you have a gun on you at all times? Even at work, or lunch? Say someone ninja kicked you in the back and stole your phone- are you warranted to turn around and shoot them? Just curious.

In Texas, in the dark, yes it is legal.
I be strapped or carry my trusty knife all times. I also do martial arts and have done so for the past 10 years. I spent many years in gang infested areas. I know where to put petrol in my vehicle and where to keep driving. My best defense is knowing my surroundings.
