I normally can't stand STI's but that in matte black looks pretty cool.

the color made you tolerate an entire car?

Anil, I won't be going back into that thread. At this point, it's not even about the topic of the phone anymore and I'm above getting in the way of a bunch of grown men trying to suck each other's dicks.

I switched to pads, btw. Things are going swimmingly now.

On another note, since I'm trying to lessen the amount of things I can't do for myself I'll be buying a flux welder tomorrow and trying my own hand at working on my exhaust tips. I don't want to fuck up, but for the most part based on previous history...I won't.

Very nice, Justin...

I have to thank Wacker for a push in the right direction. I'd considered this before but I didn't know what type of welder to spend money on and supporting accessories. He made it simple for me and Harbor Freight has a sale going on until Sunday. I'm in!

I'm hoping so...can't be that hard. I've laid down a bead before, but always supervised. I might overdo everything now...weld up my own metal dining chairs...make a mourning star...a mase!

hmm im trying to decide if i should sell my car and get this 08 bmw 535i. I think the downside would be $20 more insurance and maintenance costs? Anything else? My car is currently at 99k and if I trade it will break even with what I owe.

sure, I could afford the 535i, but would I want to keep throwing money at it!? no.

basically, I cant afford the 535i and chose the TL.
I'm sure thats why you chose the TL as well. if you dont mind the extra cost associated with the bimmer, go for it.

p.s. its a lot of extra coin.

Not all bmw parts are expensive.. For the most part maintenance is fairly even.

Sure bmw's are more high end (having more features). German cars have more electrical issues because they have more features.

SO far my acura has 90k miles. I had a transmission replaced, 02 sensor went bad, and there is rattling under the car I have not checked out yet.

Heck I was detailing the leather yesterday a part of the leather panel came loose, and there is a crack in the rear seat. No one barely sits in the rear. The drivers seat get used for the most part.

brand new?

they come with a 4 yr/50K miles full maintenance....and I like the styling....

if you can afford it, go for it....

but yeah if I get the bimmer, I would LOAD IT UP !!! the way I configured "my" 550i xdrive came to 82K....which is a ton more coin than the TL....

if you can afford it, go for it...

Jeff, what I like is recreating a scenario where you get to pretend to be really really broke to buy a part even though you make like 3 times more than I do a year. Guess you can call me a great friend.

I chose the TL because i loved the looks of it, money wasnt the problem. Lately the car doesnt seem to be performing well (ive posted multiple times about the 4->3 downshift feels like im stomping the brakes), 1st and 2nd gear has no power, and gas milage has suffered. After thinking about it, looks like ill keep the TL and replace as many parts as I can at the 105k maint.

Is there anything else you all can think of that I can do at the 105k maint besides the tb, spark plugs, motor mounts, trans filter, pressure switches. Thats currently what i have sitting in storage anything else that would be good to do?

Bunch of cry babies in here..

If you don't like it, get something else. For me, it's to get me from A to B. I've gone through more issues with the TL than most of you. It's still a good car. Only reason I've been considering trading it in or selling is to get domestic rocket while I still have some coin. Anil failed to do this.. he has to wait now..

CTS-V?

I have around 110k on mine now and I've only had to do schedule maintenance so far. The few thoughts I've had about trading/selling all went away after a spirited drive.

When I grow up, I'll shoot for a CTS-V

I'm with ya! I totally want to sell and buy a BMW! The TL just doesn't do it for me much any more. But it's paid off and reliable. :/

Also considered the new line of SRT8's but.. it would have to be a killer deal. Honestly, if it didn't have a fucked oil pump and sketchy trans, I would have bought an E60 M5 last year.

C63 AMG, please! It was considered heavily before getting the FX for us.

But, the winters here are too brutal with that car and yeah, likely would've wrapped myself around a tree driving that thing in February...

Of those you listed, the V is the only one I've gotten seat time with and I don't know much about the others aside from what I've read. Have you driven any of them yet?

After driving Betty's SRX, I'd love anything Cadillac, especially a "V" Coupe 6MT.

Only thing I don't like is the rear. So I considered an E63, but I don't like the interior (older gen that is, new gen interior is fucking sublime).

Maj....sooo effin true....

how ever, we are thinking of trading the wifey's Lex in for something

this past weekend we thought of dropping the minivan idea and getting a 5 seater suv and we test drove the Audi Q5/BMW X1 and X3 and we were just stunned at the lack of space in the rear....it was barely an upgrade (in space) from her ES300....

Since the Honda Oddy has the same J series engine, now am pretty sure on the 08+ Oddy for us, my TL and the sedan....

The only reason for a minivan (before the flaming starts) is either of our parents might be here with us....we think in the next 4-5 years, they will be here over 50% of the time....so 4 grown adults and 1 child seat is tough in fit in her car and the 5 seater SUV....

but the sedan is very very nice

Seat time in IS-F. Never been in a V. I've sat in the C63.. feelsgoodman.jpg
I mostly office chair shop when I feel sleepy.

If I had real coin, I'd be in a GT-R and never look back.
