Burning Brakes
Good afternoon ramblers,
I have a question for any lighting experts. Do 7440 bulbs act parking lights or turn signals?
I ordered some super cheap 7440 white LEDs ($6) in hopes that these would be my parking lights and would not flash, and I would just have my mirror signals flash for turning. But is it the opposite? These will only blink when turning and stay off?

Wat...pretty sure that would be illegal to only have mirrors and rear signals indicating.
The 7440 number is only the fitment. If you install them in your turn signal area, they will light up solid and flash when you signal.
Having white LED's up front is also illegal...but...that's why we run switchbacks.

It's only temporary until I get new switchbacks, just wanted to try this out. But if 7440s will stay on and also blink (as a single filament) then what the hell is the difference of a 7443 (dual filament white led bulb)? I have those installed now

That I don't know. As far as I know, 7440 and 7443 are the same.
Jeff, maybe it depends on the state but here in FL, it's required to have amber up front.
And yes, red or blue are for emergency vehicles only.

^^^ NO...to the guy above Austin....fuq u Austin ![Bored](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/bored.gif)
the 7440 being single filament will not blink because it does not have the dual filament....it will fit but will not blink...
Jeff, I have been pulled over for while side markers....the reason WHITE is illegal is because it is a "distraction to other drivers"....blue and red are illegal as they are colors which emergency vehicles use (cops/ambulance/FD)....
You can ONLY have AMBER in the front half of the car....and RED in the rear half....
also you cannot have RED (also BLUE) license plate LED's, they have to be WHITE or YELLOW....

Yes fitment like you stated before is correct. Hopefully someone can chime in, but my understanding is that 7440 (single filament) runs on one circuit, whereas 7443 (dual filament) runs on two circuits of electricity. One circuit being the parking lights, and the other being the turn signal. So hopefully the 7440 runs on the parking lights, but I have a good feeling it runs on the turn signals. Fak

Austin, fuq u again LOL....yes I told the cop, thats how the car came....I will look into the OEM options and replace them....he let me go....plus I have Missouri tags in Kansas....so my usual excuse is "Its legal in Missouri and I am just driving through"....gets me out of 90% of the tickets....
OP (es0gtg)....it WONT work since there is no RELAY to control it....
who else do you want to chime in? Thomas Edison? LOL
its simple, the parking wire is ALWAYS HOT (when you have them on), the turn signal (when you indicate) is a PULSE (ON-OFF-ON-OFF)....
imagine 1 filament, which is ALWAYS ON, no matter if you give it a pulse it wont blink since the other signal is ON
now if you add a RELAY....so when you have a pulse, it kills the other signal, then it will WORK....too much work, doncha think?
EDIT: also, you will have to rewire the whole thing, so the parking and indicating wire will go to the same filament on the bulb...
