I can speak to that. I definitely get to buy the nicer/more expensive things these days. All she wants is clothes and shoes, which she always buys on sale. I get cars, TVs, bbqs, tools, etc, etc, etc

i had the strangest proposition the other weekend.
My boy came into town from New Jersey. he stayed at the marriott sugar land like for $130 a night.
anyway, i met him at the hotel bar and there was a wedding reception going on.

No worries though, she's not racking up crazy bills or anything, but she's been unemployed for a bit now. She contacted her landlord regarding her apartment that she could not pay anymore but he doesn't want to hear anything (in Quebec things are done a bit differently/stupidly and leases are for a year and start all on July 1st) and she's technically obliged to pay it until the end of the lease. So I had to front her cash for an apartment that she wasn't really living in since she was with me in my apartment.
Now her landlord came back to her saying she could move out March 1st after she hasn't paid her Feb bill, likely realized she wasn't pulling the "I have no job" card only to get out of the lease but because she really had no job. Finding a chef or even a line cook job in the dead of winter is impossible.
Her plan is to move in with her brother who lives 15 minutes from her place but still in Montreal so she can use public transport to still go to work. That way they can also split the bills and she can get money faster. I'll be moving her few furniture items that were not included with the apartment to her brother weekend of the 21st most likely.
Otherwise I've been fronting a bit of money for food obviously, but I have no reason to think she's using me for my money, nor that I'm a "sidepiece" as you guys like to say.

You can terminate early, only if you find someone who will pay your amount yet only have an agreement to stay for the time that is remaining. The problem with Quebec is that it's different than other provinces in Canada (cue jokes here) where you can pretty much leave any time by warning the landlord. Also everybody moving on/in on July 1st complicates things immensely, good luck finding a sensibly priced rental moving truck. Expect waking up at 5am for your move and paying 3 times the usual price pretty much. Also most apartments are not furnished so you have to have your own appliances and furniture.
And then you encounter the entering tenant in your apartment, loading your shit in the overpriced truck. Drive a bit, encounter the leaving tenant of your new apartment as you try to haul your fridge up the classic Montreal outside staircase... while he's trying to haul his shit out. Clusterfuck.

I don't disagree to that point. I come from a family of 4 kids where it made more sense for my father to work a high paying job than my mother working and them paying for someone to take care of us while they worked. So my mother stayed at home.
I just think unless there's a huge discrepancy in salaries (100K vs 50K sorta thing), there's no issues to both parties spending a similar amount of money in joint ventures. I realize not can all be equal, but unless she's completely unable to spend money (she's not when she has a job) there's no reason for her to live on my money and vice versa.
That said, we don't live together and don't have kids together, so there's no reason for us to pool our money together... yet.

I got out of the car and he had the audacity to say, "I didn't hit your car" and then tried to take off.. I took a pic of his license plate but the scratch is very very light.. Also it's a rental car so I could care less realistically.. I think I'll only bring it up if the place decides to charge me else shouldn't even bother with the "hit and run".. My manager was in the car with me.
