In 1989-90 I subscribed to Thrasher Magazine. They always did stuff with music, cool underground music that you never heard on the radio. One issue, which I still have, had a section with a bunch of 1-page quick articles on cool upcoming bands. One was a band called Nirvana whose lead singer was quoted as saying the first time he realized music could really affect people was seeing Roy Orbison live at the Bumpershoot Festival. On the next page was a band called Hole whose lead singer was quoted as saying her goal was to give syphilis to the corporate ogre.

Yeah Gen X aging out over here.
We were the first generation to grow up with video games and "on-demand" movies on VHS in our houses, and the last generation to see ashtrays on every table in restaurants. We grew up with telephones being only landlines and we were still young when the dialup modem pronography super-highway began to be a thing.

I'm more of a late X'er or early Millennial too compared to most people my age.
I used VHS until a few yesrs ago. I still use CD's! We had two computers when I was young. They were old AF. One of them was a Dell/Compact (Cosario) something like that in off white color. Seperate modem and monitor.
I still love landline phones. I used them religiously untl 5 years ago, or so...
I remember back when everyone had flip phones. My dad still uses one. My mom didn't get an iPhone 4's until May 2012. It's been replaced three times due to battery or internal issues. But she still uses the 4's.
I didn't even get a smart phone until about 18 months ago. I had no use for one out in the county where I couldn't get a signal. I used the landline.
Still, to this day, I've never used any form of Social Media other than FB.
What is this TikTok thing? They say it's like something else. Is it a video Instagram? Anything like a Twitter?

i honestly dont see the appeal of tiktok. isnt it just like all the other social media out there that lets you post short videos?
